- The LPN will be expected to enroll in an RN program within 2 years of hire and attain RN licensure within 5 years of hire required.

POSITION SUMMARY`The Licensed Practical Nurse performs direct and indirect patient care functions under the direction of the RN.This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service and excellent nursing care, participating in quality improvement initiatives and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation. Under delegation of the RN, the LPN will assist in the delivery of quality care according to the individual needs of the patient, administer medications and treatments, and observe and record patient conditions and response to medications and treatments. The LPN will contribute to the overall quality metrics of their assigned unit.

Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents will be trained appropriately and competency will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hirePERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONSDemonstrates the competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position.WORK ENVIRONMENTPotential for exposure to the hazard and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, hazardous substances and potential injury.Reaching, stooping, kneeling and crouching approximately 25% of a workday; visual and physical ability required to work at a computer terminal; standing and walking approximately 50% of a workday; lifting approximately 25-50 pounds frequently and or 50-100 with assistance occasionally; physical abilities required to push, pull or transport equipment and patients.Essential functions of this position are listed on the department specific Assessment and Evaluation tool.
