General Summary
Architects, designs, implements, verifies, and optimizes performance and power of GPU cores. Responsible for building functional modeling simulations, developing software, tools, and tests for various graphics, running benchmarks for different applications, and performing pre- and post-silicon verification to verify correctness and ensure performance and power goals are met.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 5+ years of Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 3+ years of Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- 2+ years of relevant GPU experience (either external or internal).
- 1+ years of work experience in a role requiring interaction with senior leadership (e.g., Director and above).
- 1+ years in a technical leadership role with direct reports (only applies to positions with direct reports).
- Works across teams to align on important areas of feature development and ensure targets are met; ensures designs are innovative and compatible with other components.
- Develops high-quality GPU system based on requirements that balance power with performance and meet needs, benchmarks, and industry standards, even when faced with ambiguous information.
- Designs, programs, and runs comprehensive graphics tests using tools and methods for components under different scenarios and benchmarks to verify functionality, performance, power, and stability and identify issues.
- Conducts complex analyses of test results using statistics and data predictions to track benchmarks and identify issues or areas for improvement.
- Consults with internal or external users and third-party vendors to guide implementation and ensure alignment with their needs and goals.
- Builds deep understanding of one’s domain and understands several other domains to anticipate how all components will integrate in the broader framework.
- Demonstrates good understanding of and conducts research on industry trends and innovations in graphics to ensure solutions and deliverables align with best practices.
- Contributes to conversations to generate new ideas for next generation graphics; provides recommendations for new directions to explore.
- Writes clear and detailed technical documentation and feature descriptions for complex projects to guide users and/or customers to use or implement software.
- Working independently with little supervision.
- Providing some supervision/guidance to others.
- Making decisions that are moderate in impact; errors may have relatively minor financial impact or effect on projects, operations, or customer relationships; errors may require involvement beyond immediate work group to correct.
- Using verbal and written communication skills to convey information that may be somewhat complex to others who may have limited knowledge of the subject in question; may require basic negotiation and influence, cooperation, tact, and diplomacy, etc.
- Working within prescribed budget and resources.
- Having a moderate amount of influence over key organizational decisions (e.g., is consulted by senior leadership to provide input on key decisions).
- Completing most tasks with multiple steps which can be performed in various orders; some planning and prioritization must occur to complete the tasks effectively; mistakes may result in some rework.
- Exercising substantial creativity to innovate new processes, procedures, or work products within guidelines or to achieve established objectives.
- Using deductive and inductive problem solving; multiple approaches may be taken/necessary to solve the problem; often information is missing or incomplete; intermediate data analysis/interpretation skills may be required.
- Occasionally participating in strategic planning within own area affecting immediate operations.
- Supervising direct reports.
