Job Title: Vice President of Business DevelopmentLocation: Open. Must be familiar with US and Asia market.Report to: CEOOur client is a clinical-stage biotechnology startup company focus on immunotherapy based in San Francisco, Taipei, and ShanghaiThe VP of Business Development will drive the process of identifying and evaluating innovative assets in pharmaceutical, biotechnology and academic arenas with a focus om immune-oncology but also expanding to other immune disease areas when needed. The scope includes everything from accessing targets and biomedically relevant biology to the in-licensing of innovative drug candidates before or after clinical proof of concept, cutting edge technologies and platforms, and potential M&A targets.In addition, the position will also lead the efforts to license out Company assets to biotech and pharmaceutical companies to facilitate the development of the drug candidates. Such collaborations will also enhance the financial position and reputation/credibility of the Company.Job Responsibilities

• Develop company in-licensing and out-licensing strategies and identify searching priorities to be aligned with client corporate strategy to enhance company pipeline or financial position and achieve long term growth.
• Identify target companies for both in and out-licensing based on industry or scientific reports, database mining, conference presentations, and 1-on-1 meetings in various conferences.
• Perform financial modelling and commercial forecast in order to conduct financial analyses on target assets and on valuation of in-house assets.
• Facilitate scientific evaluations by leading and/or supporting cross-functional and cross-divisional teams including research, development, regulatory affairs, etc.
• Together with the above functional team, execute initial pre-due diligence assessments and define the business parameters around potential in- licensing deals.
• Build consensus for deal rationale among stake holders and senior leaders.
• Develop consolidated assessment reports and updates due diligence results for senior leadership.
• To proactively monitor the external business environment and maintain a knowledge base of licensing transactions and other company activities.
• Regularly evaluate the competitive landscape, including market and R&D trends, to stay ahead of emerging industry trends and provide guidance to the executive team.
• To continuously strengthen industry networking to secure the identification of attractive partnering opportunities.
• Guide internal R&D activities and prioritization efforts based on industry intelligence and analysis of completion landscapes.

Job Requirements

• Ph.D. in biological sciences, biochemistry, immunology, or any other biomedical areas. An MBA degree is preferred but not required.
• 12+ years industry experience with at least 6+ years in product Licensing and Business Development. Strong R&D experience is preferred.
• Successful out-licensing experience/track record is strongly preferred.
• Fluent in English (Chinese/Mandarin is a plus but not required), and Good written and oral communication skills.
• Proven track record in sourcing, structuring, negotiating and closing different types of partnerships.
• Drug development experiences in immunology and oncology is preferred.
• Out-going personalities and a positive attitude are preferred.
• Able to thrive in a fast-pace, global, cross-functional and science-driven environment.
• Capable of managing projects and deadlines with high-levels of self- motivation.
• Domestic and international travel are required (estimated 25-30%)
