General Summary

Responsible for planning, implementing, and managing compliance of design, manufacturing, and production processes with internal and external safety, quality, and regulatory standards requirements for worldwide distribution. Designs, implements, and maintains methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of design, production processes, production equipment, and finished products. Performs analysis of reports and data to identify trends and recommend updates or control changes to quality standards and procedures when necessary. Ensures quality integration into the overall functions of design, development, process, and production.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field and 5+ years of Quality Engineering, Quality Assurance, or related work experience.

OR

Master’s Degree in Applied Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field and 4+ years of Quality Engineering, Quality Assurance, or related work experience.

OR

PhD in Applied Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field and 3+ years of Quality Engineering, Quality Assurance, or related work experience.
  • 2+ years of experience with data modeling in statistical software such as MS Excel, Minitab, etc.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Applied Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 8+ years of Quality Engineering, Quality Assurance, or related work experience.
  • Black Belt/Six Sigma certification.
  • ASQ (e.g., CQE or CRE) certification or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience working in a large matrixed organization.
  • 1+ years of work experience in a role requiring interaction with senior leadership (e.g., Director and above).

Principal Duties And Responsibilities
  • Identifies defects or problems in a wide range of products and plays a central role in driving the effort to resolve them.
  • Studies, understands, and applies advanced concepts related to product/process.
  • Reviews data and research in order to recommend improvements to the design and process of products.
  • Partners with other functions (e.g., IT, Testing) to create dashboards for quality metrics.
  • Measures the effectiveness of quality programs for unique or nonstandard projects.
  • Applies expert knowledge of product development processes to execute the Internal Assessment Program and identifies any gaps to be addressed.
  • Writes customized reports based on audits and other information about product development processes.
  • Presents results to the project-level lead.
  • Develops training material, process documents, and templates for ISO 9000 certification; delivers training for multiple products or processes.
  • Uses statistical analysis programs to manage quality metric data and conducts highly complex analyses across multiple projects.
  • Conducts formal root cause analysis on errors or flaws in products that may involve multiple groups or processes; identifies solutions to novel and complex errors or flaws.

Level Of Responsibility
  • Working independently with little supervision.
  • Making decisions that are moderate in impact; errors may have financial impact or effect on projects, operations, or customer relationships; errors may require involvement beyond immediate work group to correct.
  • Using verbal and written communication skills to convey complex and/or detailed information to multiple individuals/audiences with differing knowledge levels. May require strong negotiation and influence, communication to large groups or high-level constituents.
  • Having a moderate amount of influence over key organizational decisions (e.g., is consulted by senior leadership to provide input on key decisions).
  • Completing tasks that do not have defined steps; simultaneous use of multiple mental abilities is generally required to determine the best approach; mistakes may result in significant rework.
  • Exercising substantial creativity to innovate new processes, procedures, or work products within guidelines or to achieve established objectives.
  • Using deductive and inductive problem solving; multiple approaches may be taken/necessary to solve the problem; often information is missing or conflicting; advanced data analysis and interpretation skills are required.
  • Occasionally participates in strategic planning within own area affecting immediate operations.
