The Role

We are seeking an experienced corporate lawyer to join our legal team full-time in our Taipei office. Previous experience in financial services and fintech will be an asset. This is an opportunity to join a dynamic business environment and work on a variety of legal issues.

Responsibilities

• Assist with reviewing, drafting, negotiating and structuring of a broad range of commercial contracts, including master services agreements, IT services agreements, intragroup arrangements, partnership agreements and other ancillary business agreements.
• Work closely with the EMQ group companies’ businesses and the business development team at various stages of the contracting process.
• Communicate and negotiate with external parties (external clients, partners, external counsel, etc.)
• Develop integrated relationships and credibility with key members of business development team and across EMQ group companies’ functions.
• Liaise with and manage relations with relevant stakeholders (including business development/ tech / HR / marketing colleagues) to deliver a high standard of legal advice, acting as the initial point of contact / support and trusted adviser.
• Provide risk management advice to the business.
• Ensure governance practices and monitor the effectiveness of controls.

Requirements

• A business-oriented lawyer with at least 10 years of experience to cover a broad base of legal and commercial issues across a variety of EMQ group companies’ businesses.
• Ability to think strategically and creatively and view legal issues in their wider context and advise accordingly.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong organizational skills and judgement, excellent analysis, drafting and negotiation skills.
• Self-motivated to drive delivery against objectives and an ability to work autonomously and manage own caseload.
• A strong customer focus and specifically a willingness to learn and build good working relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure understanding of EMQ group companies business needs and contractual obligations, identify areas of improvements of documents, policies and standards, and help enhance and improve on the customer experience.
• Accustomed to operating with business stakeholders on complex matters in a fast-paced environment and with a successful track record of aligning legal priorities with business goals.
• An ability to provide incisive, pro-active advice and sound commercial legal judgement.
• An in-depth understanding of the financial services industry or demonstrable wide-ranging commercial experience.
• A well-rounded, broadly based and highly regarded commercial contracts specialist with first-rate academic credentials, demonstrable intellectual abilities and an excellent career track record to date.
• A solutions-focused, engaging approach while maintaining a high degree of professionalism, ethics, and integrity.
• An agile (think on your feet and flexible around business priorities), hands-on professional with a strong sense of initiative, pro-activity and an investigative mind-set.
