About The Job

Our computational challenges are so big, complex and unique we can’t just purchase off-the-shelf hardware, we’ve got to make it ourselves. Your team designs and builds the hardware, software and networking technologies that power all of Google’s services. As a Hardware Engineer, you design and build the systems that are the heart of the world’s largest and most powerful computing infrastructure. You develop from the lowest levels of circuit design to large system design and see those systems all the way through to high volume manufacturing. Your work has the potential to shape the machinery that goes into our cutting-edge data centers affecting millions of Google users.

As a RF Desense Hardware Specialist, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and integrating high quality wireless subsystems for the wide variety of Google Nest products. You will be a member of a team of other desense engineers and will work directly with the product hardware. You will work with antenna, RF, Electrical Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to develop the tools to satisfy speed, accuracy, repeatability, and quantity requirements.

The Google Nest team focuses on hardware, software and services offerings for the home, ranging from Nest thermostats to Nest smart displays. The Nest team researches, designs, and develops new technologies and hardware to make users’ homes more helpful. Our mission is the helpful home: to create a home that cares for the people inside it and the world around it.

Responsibilities

  • Support internal, cross-functional, or external collaborations for Desense-related issues, including Design, validation, execution, and manufacturing. Use EM simulation for initial performance prediction or issue debugging.
  • Join review designs of grounding architectures, schematics, and layouts from Desense perspective. Author SOPs, document findings, and generate reports, propose, and experiment on solutions.
  • Analyze lab and factory data, and perform Failure Analysis (FA) to root-cause failures and improve Desense performance. Execute desense test plans to ensure the consistent, high performing products that Nest customers expect.
  • Attend factory production meetings and collaborate with counterparts to help on validation and test issue debugging.
  • Attend business trips for project bringup and lab/factory onsite debugging if needed.
