Preferred qualifications:

• Master’s degree or PhD in electrical engineering, industrial engineering, or mechanical engineering.
• 10 years of experience in quality or reliability engineering of cloud infrastructure hardware and technology.
• Experience with leading cross-functional teams for continuous improvement using practical approaches.
• Knowledge of quality methods, tools, and quality standards.
• Knowledge of inter-process communication standards for printed circuit board assembly.
• Excellent data analytics and database query skills like structured query language.
  
  

About The Job

Google has one of the largest and most powerful computing infrastructures in the world. Your team is responsible for providing the manufacturing capability to deliver this state-of-the-art physical infrastructure. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you evaluate the product designs and create the processes, tools and procedures behind Google’s powerful search technology. When vendors build parts for our infrastructure, you’re right there alongside ensuring manufacturing processes are repeatable and controlled. You collaborate with Commodity Managers and Design Engineers to determine Google’s infrastructure needs and product specifications. Your work ensures the various pieces of Google’s infrastructure fit together perfectly and keep our systems humming along smoothly for a seamless user experience.

As a Product Quality Engineer for Google Cloud, you will lead product quality related activities between engineering teams, contract manufacturers, and suppliers. You will be identifying and managing risks and clearly communicating project goals and status to stakeholders.

In this role, you’ll evaluate product designs and create the processes, tools, and procedures to help improve our technical infrastructure on every aspect of product quality. You will work closely with multiple Engineering, Product Operations, and Supply Chain teams to ensure that the product represents Google optimally and ensures quality service.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the product quality for compute server, storage, accelerators, and networking device through the product lifecycle.
• Provide technical leadership, set priorities, and drive resolution of technical issues for product quality and predictable field deployment.
• Analyze manufacturing, field quality, and reliability data to extract actionable insights and opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Initiate, drive, and implement innovative product, process, tools development, and improvement projects both independently and cross-functionally.
• Monitor, review, and present product performance data and metrics to stakeholders in a concise and clear way that enables data-driven decision making.
