Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial design, manufacturing, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in leading mechanical engineering projects.
  • 5 years of experience in managing engineering teams.
  • Ability to speak and write in English fluently.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Master’s degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in high-volume consumer electronics mechanical architecture and systems design.
  • Experience in leading a team of technical mechanical engineers (e.g., Thermal team, FEA team, and/or Module design team).
  • Knowledge of technologies used in consumer products (e.g., Plastic Injection Molding, Sheet Metal, Extrusion, Die Casting, Antenna/EE/Sensor design requirement, Materials, Operations, Processes, Sustainability, etc.).
  • Ability to form effective cross-functional relationships and to communicate product design/mechanical requirements clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to lead a team and deliver multiple large, complex, and mission-critical projects.

About The Job

As a Principal Product Design Engineer, you will develop and guide a growing team of Thermal engineers, Module Product Designers, and Simulation teams. You will build a close and collaborative relationship with cross-functional teams in operations, product, and hardware to define/deliver excellent products.

In this role, you will influence product direction and hardware architecture. You will ensure the team has access to the right training, tools, and best practices to build reliable and scalable systems. You will help the team find creative solutions. You will lead product management to identify strategic technologies and processes for long-term research.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and guide multiple Mechanical Engineers, Module PDs, Thermal teams, and FEA teams in new technical investment and mass production.
  • Build consensus among cross-functional teams and influence executive-level decisions. Communicate technical concepts clearly to cross-functional leaders.
  • Develop a technology roadmap to support future product development whilst being responsible for understanding and resolving reliability concerns for designs.
  • Manage a team for technical and innovative ideas. Solve issues associated with the product development path using creative designs.
  • Develop a high-performing, collaborative, and inclusive team.
