Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in hardware power electronics.
  • Experience in battery fuel gauges, battery management, power circuit design, and verification.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s or PhD in a technical field.
  • Experience with on-board power design in consumer electronics or related fields.
  • Experience in battery fuel gauges, algorithm development, firmware development, circuit design, and verification for battery management.
  • Strong knowledge on system power delivery, voltage regulator, power IC and power electronics.
  • Ability to execute own work with minimal supervision. Exceptional analytical and organizational skills, coupled with a well-focused attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional project teams.

As a Power Engineer at Google, you will work with a team of engineers to design, analyze, optimize, and implement board and system level power architecture. You will collaborate with different domain experts to bring ideas from paper to product.

The Google Nest team focuses on hardware, software, and services for the home, ranging from Nest thermostats to Nest smart displays. The Google Nest team develops, designs, and develops new technologies and hardware to make users’ homes more helpful. Our mission is the helpful home: to create a home that cares for the people inside it and the world around it.

Responsibilities

  • Design battery charger, fuel gauge, and on-board power delivery network. Analyze performance, cost, accuracy, and trade-offs.
  • Lead projects that involve new technologies or new uses of multiple existing technologies.
  • Partner with power industry leaders to lead evaluation and adoption of cutting-edge technologies.
  • Engage cross-functionally with the team to ensure successful design, integration, and complete validation.
  • Provide technical leadership and direction while troubleshooting complex system-level power network issues.
