Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, a related Engineering discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience working with Original Design Manufacturer (ODM), Contract Manufacturer (CM), or Joint Development Manufacturing (JDM), designing and ramping consumer hardware products.
  • 3 years of experience in leading teams and bringing consumer and electro-mechanical products to production.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience in exporting, interpreting and presenting data to key stakeholders and executive management.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate with cross-functional team members and collaborate to achieve project goals, and contribute to the engineering community.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time as needed.

About The Job

Our computational challenges are so big, complex and unique we can’t just purchase off-the-shelf hardware, we’ve got to make it ourselves. Your team designs and builds the hardware, software and networking technologies that power all of Google’s services. As a Hardware Engineer, you design and build the systems that are the heart of the world’s largest and most powerful computing infrastructure. You develop from the lowest levels of circuit design to large system design and see those systems all the way through to high volume manufacturing. Your work has the potential to shape the machinery that goes into our cutting-edge data centers affecting millions of Google users.

In this technical leadership role, you will lead a cross-functional team of hardware and product design engineers from concept to production, shaping the product definition, driving execution, and representing the team. You will ensure that the product meets all technical objectives and stays aligned with the long-term department strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a cross-functional engineering team that will develop innovative designs with consumer appeal to meet size, performance, cost, time to market, and quality targets.
  • Ensure cross-functional collaboration and drive team focus on critical tasks, key schedule events/deliverables, builds, milestone, etc.
  • Create and maintain the high level hardware schedule, work closely with the overall progress schedule to establish build dates and ensure it aligns with the overall program schedule.
  • Drive and communicate decision making through documents as needed for critical decisions, representing the team in executive level meetings.
  • Identify and communicate product performance risks, trade-offs, escalate and implement risk mitigation strategies.
