Minimum qualifications:

• 8 years of experience in Global Supply Management or procurement and supply chain.
• Experience in New Product Introduction managing Capital Equipment Vendors.

• Master’s degree in Business Administration.
• Experience in consumer product hardware development.
• Experience in Design For Manufacturing (DFM).
• Experience establishing partnerships, interpreting legal documents, and working with the Legal teams to complete agreements.
• Experience with international business customs.

About The Job

Commodity Managers work with Engineering teams to make sure Google has the supplies and equipment to put into production the innovative products coming from our Engineering teams. As a Commodity Manager, you use your wide industry knowledge and strategic supplier relationships to optimize our total cost of ownership for our global -- and growing -- infrastructure. The scale at which Google operates means that savings on just one piece of hardware can have a huge impact on Google’s bottom line.

As a Global Supply Manager, you will help ensure Google has capital equipment support for the production of the products coming from our Engineering teams. You’ll build and leverage relationships with suppliers to ensure cost, quality, and delivery goals are met. Additionally, you will maintain supplier relationships, agreements, and assess total cost of ownership to achieve optimum results.

In this role, you’ll support implementation and management of strategies to provide excellent supply assurance, pricing, flexibility, quality, and delivery performance of our hardware products. You will set up and execute a cross-functional equipment vendor selection processes with Operations and Engineering teams and help optimize capital equipment. You’ll help with vendor support services, ensure sufficient capacity for equipment production and on-time delivery, and support Engineering teams with the development of customized production processes and vendor support of production line ramp-up.

Responsibilities

• Develop strategic equipment and fixture vendor partnerships for cross-programs to further commercial and operational priorities.
• Negotiate equipment and fixtures to support build readiness across ongoing, concurrent development builds, directly with vendors or indirectly through contract manufacturing partners.
• Partner with Operations and Engineering to drive capital equipment strategies across Google Hardware and manage existing assets and investments.
• Engage with Engineering, Operations, and vendors in technical discussions to optimize capital investment through design, processes, and supply chain management.
• Communicate effectively with Mandarin-speaking clients.
