Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3 years of technical leadership and people management experience.
• Experience with software development in one or more general purpose programming language (e.g., C/C++, Java, or Python).
  
  

Preferred qualifications:

• Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or related discipline.
• Experience with the development of consumer products and software features.
• Experience working with SoC partners to bring up devices and assure platform quality.
• Familiarity with Android and Linux platform and software development.
• Ability to collaborate with internal and external partners effectively.
• Ability to speak and write in English and Chinese fluently.

In this role you will lead and grow a software team in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region and work closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Product Management, User Experience) and various system on chip (SoC) partners to build the Android TV, Android and Linux software platform, and features for Google Nest hardware products.

The Google Nest team focuses on hardware, software, and services for the home, ranging from Nest thermostats to Nest smart displays. The Google Nest team develops, designs, and develops new technologies and hardware to make users’ homes more helpful. Our mission is the helpful home: to create a home that cares for the people inside it and the world around it.

Responsibilities

• Manage and grow a device software engineering team.
• Lead the development of system software, tools, and features on Android TV, Android and Linux for Google TV and other Google Nest consumer products.
• Build partnership with internal cross-functional teams (i.e.. Product Managers, User Experience, Technical Program Managers/Engineering Program Manager, Data Scientist/Test).
• Inspire and motivate the team with a strong technical goal.
• Drive relationships with key SoC partners.
