The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Product Certification Manager to work with Framework on a consultation basis.

Specifically, we are looking for someone who can carefully review our certification plans, documentation and product labeling to confirm that we are on the right track and guide us throughout new product development.

It is important to note that we do not require this role to perform the certification work, but rather to provide guidance and advisory support throughout the process.

As a Product Certification consultant, you will be responsible for guiding and overseeing process of our products, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations in countries where our products are shipped globally.

The scope of the consultant role will involve coordinating with Framework cross functional teams, regulatory bodies, and external certification agencies to ensure that we can obtain and maintain necessary certifications.

This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and in-depth knowledge of global product certification requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review and/or implement a comprehensive product certification strategy to ensure compliance with relevant international standards and regulations.
• Research and stay up-to-date with global product certification requirements, including safety, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), wireless regulations, environmental compliance, and other relevant standards.
• Collaborate with product development teams to ensure products are designed and manufactured to meet certification requirements from the initial stages of development.
• Coordinate with internal teams, such as engineering, quality assurance, and legal, to gather and provide necessary documentation and information required for certification.
• Liaise with external certification agencies, testing laboratories, and regulatory bodies to facilitate the certification process and maintain positive working relationships.
• Manage the timeline and budget for product certifications, ensuring timely completion and cost-effective strategies.
• Conduct risk assessments and gap analyses to identify potential certification challenges and provide recommendations for resolution.
• Review and interpret certification reports, test results, and technical documentation to ensure compliance and address any non-compliance issues.
• Provide guidance and training to internal teams on certification processes, standards, and regulations to foster a culture of compliance and quality.
• Create and maintain online and inbox legal documents pertaining to compliance and certifications.
• Manage reporting, documentation, and third party relationships with in region Authorized Representatives pertaining to compliance in region and certification requirements.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in certification management for electronics products.
• Familiarity with: CB, CE, RoHS, REACH Declaration, Nemko CCL, FCC, DOE & CEC BCS, CEC Computer, HF, California Prop 65, E-Star, EPEAT, ICES, IC, NRCan BCS, KC, KCC, KES, BSMI, NCC, TGM, BSMI-RoHS
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, or Business or equivalent experience.
• Strong vendor management experience, including aligning with senior-level vendor executives on deliverables.
• Technical understanding of product-level, electrical or mechanical module level development.
• In-depth knowledge of global product certification standards and regulations, such as FCC, CE, IC, UL, RoHS, REACH, etc.
• Familiarity with various product categories, including computers, and peripherals.
• Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and compliance
• Strong written and verbal English communication abilities and familiarity with working across time zones.

Nice-to-haves

• An electrical or mechanical engineering background.
• A passion for environmentalism and/or DIY.
• Experience working as a remote member of an international team.
• Fluency in Mandarin.
