The IT/AV Technician is responsible for providing excellent customer service and technical support in response to requests for assistance. The role is responsible for the operation and administration of the Primary Campus Audio Visual functions and the maintenance and ongoing support for all Primary Campus AV facilities. • Act as the primary contact for AV systems/equipment fault reporting and diagnose faults where possible.
• Daily upkeep and maintenance of the Amphitheatre, MPR, Infant Hall (lighting, sound, projection and recording) equipment and systems.
• Facilitate the repair or replacement of AV and peripheral equipment.
• Serve as on-sight A/V support for events that take place in the Amphitheatre.
• Liaise with the maintenance department to ensure that all aspects of the amphitheatre facility are maintained (AC, Power, Furnitures etc).
• Maintain and manage the AV equipment inventory and tracking.
• Assist in bi-annual inventory of all A/V equipment.
• Assist with AV setups and teardowns, as necessary.
• Setup A/V equipment for meetings and various functions across the campus.
• Attend A/V briefings, planning, and training sessions that pertain to events and AV equipment.
• Be attentive to the safety and security of the Amphitheatre and other venues utilising AV equipment.
• Be aware of emergency procedures and troubleshoot concerns throughout the amphitheatre. Troubleshooting A/V equipment when there are technical questions or problems related to A/V equipment and identifying appropriate solutions.
• Provide instruction on the operation of A/V equipment as necessary. Collaborate and assist the IT team to ensure the upkeep and maintenance of all AV equipment at the EPC.
• Collaborate with the IT team to track AV/IT assets at the EPC. Ensure setup and put away of A/V equipment is completed for all events.
• Collaborate with the IT team to provide IT troubleshooting and software and end-user support.
• Collaborate with the IT team to track all Helpdesk equipment.
• Clean and maintain equipment, report damage to the Director of IT.
• Collaborate and assist the IT team to troubleshoot printer issues and the replacement of toner.
• Perform any other duties as required by your line manager.
• A deep working knowledge of audio visual presentation equipment such as AV control systems, audio mixers, compressors, EQs, wireless microphone systems, video mixers, DMX lighting control systems, video cameras, audio recorders, large video screen systems, etc.
• Coursework and/or certification relating to AV skills and concepts.
• Familiarity with policies, procedures, and security considerations relating to AV systems.
• Experience operating professional AV facilities for live events on a regular basis.
• Business Level English communication skills (written and oral).
• Minimum of 2 years experience in a technical support role or similar position with relevant duties and skill requirements.
• A general knowledge of computer systems, networks and equipment, especially Microsoft Active Directory, AzureAD, Office 365 and Windows, MacOS X, Apple iOS, Google, Android and general Linux systems in a broad BYOD based environment.
• A working knowledge of IT Service Management framework and practice (ie.ITIL, FITS, etc)
• Knowledge of WHS principles and their application in the workplace
• Excellent technical troubleshooting skills and a deep understanding of troubleshooting processes and procedures.
• Excellent customer service skills, responsive attitude.
• Friendly, good-humoured, and empathetic disposition suited to working with others and solving problems under pressure.
• Flexibility, patience, and desire to work with and around children of all ages in an education environment.
• Ability to collaborate with others at all levels of the organisation as well as vendors.
• Ability to gain new technical skills quickly through both self-study and formal professional development activities.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts in layman’s terms.
