Unilever International (UI) is an alternative but complimentary route to market, servicing white space opportunities not exploited by local operating countries. It is a global business unit with 9 hubs (Singapore, US, UK, Korea, India, Dubai, France, Philippines, and Australia) with a diverse range of products, with expertise in utilizing 3rd party distributors and consolidators to reach consumers in over 75 countries.
UI have been operating successfully as an alternate RtM to complement MCOs to serve these white spaces through a network of 500+ market expansion service providers and specialists via seeding initiatives. The market expansion providers or distributors in countries provide brand building and customer development services to UI under the agreed operating frameworks using the brand toolkits provided. UI have strategically evolved its portfolio from availability led growth to seeding in the last 5 years.
Key Responsibilities
- Marketing in UI will own and drive the growth from 1bn to 5bn by
- Building leading market share positions in S.M.I.L.E. (Small Island Landlocked & Extreme) geographies to serve underserved geographies - combination of digital + in store execution
- Serving underserved diaspora and religious population with the right innovations, festival marketing activation and building a strategy to serve these underserved consumers
- Creating new innovations and marketing programs to serve underserved channels such as Corporate Partnerships, Govt ^ & NGO (GIN), Cross Border ecom, Discounters etc
- Serving underserved brands by building a global model to seed, incubate and scale brands especially in Health and beauty, Ecom and modern trade
- Building new niche and underserved categories like lip care, hand care, sun care, face care, dressings in D&E, Surface cleaning etc
- Marketing in UI is digital driven with 90% spends online across social, search, performance marketing with a high focus on high ROI marketing
- You will lead the North Asia across functions, the incumbent will execute end to end management of various business initiatives in country
- UI’s future growth will come from brand building at scale in the market by being the best in class in global digital marketing across search, social, performance marketing and moving to the final ultimate phase of direct to consumer and first party data
- You will drive marketing strategy, digital marketing excellence, marketing culture and organisation, a culture of consumer and customer obsession and work to be a pioneer in the world of digital marketing
- You will engage and interact with the marketing community across all BG to drive full alignment and engagement and craft UI’s role in the new Unilever BG/BU world
- The No.1 Responsibility for North Asia Lead is to scale brands in market to become segment and channel leaders globally in key markets
- You’ll drive end-to-end management of seeding initiatives and manage existing business within North Asia and coordinate across multi-functional teams to bring projects to life and drive business growth
- Works closely with customers to implement the business plan. Works in close collaboration with the Category Team for the category input, and with customer marketing & brand teams for the specific banner/channel plan

- Over 15 years’ experience in FMCG industry in building brands globally, driving digital marketing, Customer Development and Trade Marketing
- A bachelor’s degree in any discipline

- Strong network with customers and senior stakeholders in the Unilever business
- Deeply collaborative and work and win with others
