TW - WTG Mechanical Engineer

Key Responsibilities
  • Effectively communicate at a technical level as well as being able to translate technical details so these can be discussed internally with nontechnical people.
  • Able to take on a variety of tasks and work flexibly as the project moves through the next phases.
  • Ensure compliance of the WTG package scope with technical/mechanical specifications including remedying of quality issues (e.g. NCRs, etc.).
  • Work with WTG supplier and other internal and external stakeholders to solve mechanical issues, including those related to interfaces, until handover of the WTG scope to the Operations team.
  • Responsible for the delivery of PE stamping and certification for the WTG package scope.
  • Support the review of technical documentation, including detailed design, variations, claims and asbuilt documentation.
  • Liaise with the WTG Technical Manager to manage the resolution of issues related to WTG mechanical works.
  • Site visits during various stages, including offshore, as required.
  • Support the WTG Package with the technical interfaces to other packages.
Key Requirements
  • Degree in Engineering (or equivalent), or experience in a technical role within the offshore wind, Oil and Gas or Power Systems industry.
  • Good communicator able to build sound business relationships and represent them in project meetings and presentations.
  • Ideally a solid technical understanding of a wind farm and of the relationship between technical issues on turbines and balance of plant, grid etc. and commercial impacts. However, the capacity and motivation to learn is equivalently important.
  • Competent when dealing with health and safety standards, quality standards, best practice, technical specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Organised and process-driven, able to work independently or collaboratively as suits the situation best.
  • IT literate (familiar with Microsoft Office & SharePoint) and able to learn and make full use of internal systems.
  • High level of understanding to the importance of data management processes.
  • Ability to establish, maintain and develop effective professional relationships at different seniority levels.
  • Self-driven, proactive, and solution-oriented attitude.
  • A team player with the ability and motivation to work in a diverse environment with people of different cultural backgrounds.
  • Strong communication skills in English, written and spoken
  • Willing to travel internationally as required
