Technical Project Manager

(Build Project Manager - Tablet/Laptop)

Introduction:

A fundamental part of our strategy is having desirable and powerful devices that enable the experiences people want, and elicit their excitement. Creating these devices involves a close partnership between hardware and software engineers, designers, and manufacturing. We are currently building the next generation and Tablet needs you!

The successful candidate will have (a/an):

• Effective English written & oral communication skills.
• 5+ yrs in the Consumer Electronics market
• Technical understanding of Laptop/Tablet technologies, supply chain interactions, manufacturing processes
• Overall understanding of Consumer System Architecture
• High degree of flexibility, willing to immediately fill in the gaps rather than waiting for others to step up
• Strategic/tactical leadership skills—enthusiastic, self-driven, organized, motivated to achieve results
• Excellent cross-organizational & project management skills, thriving in a highly innovative, evolving, ambiguous environment
• Working permit & Mandarin ability are required w/ foreigner

Responsibilities include:

• Building transparent project plans (.xls, .mpp, etc.), followed by communicating the plan & status w/ project stakeholders
• Product Engineering Build follow up & co-ordination
• Hold responsibility for the creation and maintain of project schedules, product build matrix, build material readiness and risk mitigation plans
• Anticipating risks—assessing, mitigating, managing accordingly
• Driving the execution and delivery of project collateral using common engineering tools, triage, tracking tasks and issues, reporting
• Owning the decision to take calculated risks after communicating risks & tradeoffs w/ the subsystem, system, supplier teams and getting mgmt. approval (as needed)
• Organizing and present program reviews/status to engineering, business, Sr. mgmt.
• Scheduling and driving meetings vertically & horizontally to ensure communication and decision-making
• Driving cross-organizational execution meetings, syncing w/ US-based PMs & Engineering teams
• Coordinating design efforts between US-based Development Teams & Asia-based suppliers
• Partnering w/ US-based Development, Factory Mgmt., Tier 1 contract manufacturer Teams to ensure successful engineering build & shipment
• Partnering will all internal cross-functional and external supplier teams to keep the project build schedule and track continuous improvement for next product build
