PEAK Wind is looking for a Technical Manager for expatriation to Taiwan to work on an offshore wind project. Following the expatriation period, you will join one of PEAK Wind’s other global teams.

Role description

You will be expatriated to Taiwan, where you will act as Technical Manager in one of the largest Taiwan offshore wind farms. Reporting to the Technical Asset Manager, you will be an essential part of the Operations Management Team. While you’ll support all asset scopes (Wind Turbines, Foundations, Offshore and Onshore Cables and Substations) on management level, your key technical focus will be defining and implementing the operations and maintenance strategy for Transmissions Assets and all Balance of Plant HV/LV Electrical Equipment. The first year of the role will be strongly focused on take-over from the construction organization and ramping up the team for operations, with the long-term responsibility of building up a fully localized capabilities in this field.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement key performance indicators for operation of offshore wind farms
  • Support developing and implementing operational processes and procedures for monitoring asset and contractor performance
  • Guide the local asset integrity team in execution of their work scopes and support implementation of best industry practices
  • Support alignment of project’s commercial and technical functions
  • Plan and manage the execution of all O&M activity relating to Transmissions Assets and Balance of Plant Electrical equipment
  • Supervise the activities of all subcontractors executing scopes of inspection and maintenance activity on Transmissions Assets and Balance of Plant Electrical equipment
  • Responsible for the coordination and management of onshore/offshore cable repair activities in the event of defects, damage or faults
  • Ensure that all assets under management adhere to statutory requirements for Health, Safety and Environmental performance and comply with project-specific requirements
  • Support the Technical Asset Manager in managing (and documentation progress of) responses to open project issues – including ongoing works and technical proposals through liaison with service providers
  • Review relevant technical proposals received from project service providers (from both technical and business case perspectives)
  • Recommend technical and design improvements
  • Support in the closeout of the construction punch list items
  • Ensure low response times and effective execution of corrective and preventive maintenance, remediation of defects and technical resolution of equipment failures

Experienced Technical Manager with operational mindset and experience in electrical balance of plant

We are looking for a candidate with a degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent and extensive experience in an O&M environment within the offshore wind, Oil and Gas or Electrical Transmission industry and an understanding of the best practice. You have broad experience of the management of electrical safety rules systems, as well as a solid technical understanding of the full asset and of the relationship between technical issues on turbines, the balance of plant, grid etc., and commercial impacts for owners. You are competent when dealing with quality standards, best practice procedures, technical specifications and regulatory requirements. Background in Offshore EPC projects / operational start-up of offshore windfarms/windfarm operations is an advantage.

The ideal candidate is a good communicator with a proven ability to build sound business relationships and represent them in project meetings and presentations. You are a tenacious self-starter, professional, organized and process driven and able to work independently. You have the ability to establish, maintain and develop effective relationships. Moreover, you want to be part of a motivated team with people from different disciplines and parts of the world, that work together to ensure high-quality deliverables for international clients.
