Job Overview:

The Sustainability Specialist at Bemis is a role that focuses on enhancing our leading position as an environmentally responsible supplier to our target markets. The job is highly cross functional with an emphasis on supporting achievement of the company sustainability goals through decentralized actions within each function. Key attributes for this role are great collaboration skills, a passion for the environment & community, knowledge/excitement to learn about apparel & electronics industry certification programs, and organization + implementation of measurement systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with Director of Sustainability on developing a global sustainability strategy and building a plan to execute the plan across the Bemis Asia organization.
• Execute on the strategy to meet or exceed long term and/or annual targets across key sustainability metrics & objectives.
• Secure and leverage director and manager commitment and support for integrating sustainability into core functions, business processes, and decision-making to drive a culture of sustainability.
• Work with key functional directors and managers to align on their respective sustainability goals/targets. Collaborate with the respective leaders and their teams to achieve the goals.
• Support both the measuring of Bemis Asia Scope 1, 2, & 3 emissions, and implementing plans & initiatives to achieve our ambitious Net Zero target.
• Lead and support the respective teams and functions across Bemis Asia to either comply with, or drive improvements in certifications or programs such as REACH, HIGG, OEKO-TEX, BLUESIGN etc.
• Support compliance testing process within Bemis Asia to enable customer specific opportunity progression & product shipment.

• Work hand in hand with the Bemis Innovation, Product Development, Design & Application and Product Management teams to build and progress a robust sustainable product roadmap, develop amazing products, and effectively commercialize, market, and sell those products. Stay attuned to the Sustainability direction and needs of Bemis core markets & customers to continuously improve work in R&D, D&A, Sales & Marketing as it related to Sustainability
• Actively engage with customers, suppliers, consortia’s, industry groups, nonprofits and other stakeholders to continuously stay on top of Sustainability practices, Science, Policies, and Priorities.
• Foster a culture of sustainability through ongoing organizational communications, education, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Collaborate with Customers, Suppliers, Colleagues & other stakeholders to lobby and advocate for sound climate policy.
• Partner with local organizations to organize group volunteer opportunities.

Requirements:

• University degree or equivalent (Environmental Science / Management / Engineering).
• Good command of written and spoken English and Mandarin.
• 8 year’s solid experience in sustainability relevant area.
• Strong project planning skills with the ability to work of multiple projects and initiatives involving multiple senior stakeholders.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships, to understand client needs and deliver to meet their expectations
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with aptitude in building relationships with professionals of all organizational levels.
• Self-motivate, Team player, work independently and attention to details.
