Who We Are Looking For

Nike is always on the offense and constantly innovating. We are looking for a Sr. Chemical Engineer to join the Nike Chemical Engineering Team in Taiwan to help revolutionize the world’s best athletic footwear for the world’s best athletes. A successful candidate will build knowledge of the company, product, materials, processes and customers, solve a range of product creation and engineering problems and analyze possible solutions using standard procedures while receiving a minimum level of guidance and direction.

What You Will Work On

• Elevate product quality through the application of innovative technologies and processes to enable transition of programs to the inline or manufacturing space
• Lead and drive strategic chemical and sustainable projects aligned with the global chemical and engineering initiatives
• Expert in data analysis, drawing conclusions and making process or product recommendations
• Solve complex engineering problems and recommend appropriate corrective actions
• Act as functional expert in the chemical and process areas
• Be comfortable working independently and in ambiguous situations
• Coach and mentor junior engineers and lead the elevation of factory partner’s capabilities
• Lead new chemical facility ramp up while ensuring consistent quality
• Drive validation of cutting-edge technology and confirm manufacturing readiness
• Be accountable for ensuring factory progress against Nike strategic goals and adherence to Nike’s manufacturing and quality standards
• Work with Nike leadership and factory teams to ensure best practices are implemented at our factories
• Utilize chemical and process engineering knowledge and apply research towards the design, development, and scale up of new products and processes with the highest quality
• Perform product and process development engineering work in one or more general engineering functions, including chemical, material, innovation and mechanical, etc
• Be a subject matter expert in bottom technology within the product creation teams during the development phase to identify and alleviate potential manufacturing, efficiency or costing concerns
• Ability to design for manufacturing and deliver a tested and proven product to the market
  
  

Who You Will Work With

You will join a team that designs, develops and transition new technologies, materials and manufacturing processes to create the world’s best athletic footwear. You will work closely with global cross-functional teams in the Nike organization as well as manufacturing partners and material suppliers. WHAT YOU BRING

• Bachelors, Masters or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Polymers, or other related sub-specialty field and minimum of 5 years directly relevant work experience
• Fluent in written and verbal English and Mandarin
• Ability to think strategically and drive business initiatives in a technical environment
• Proven ability to work in diverse teams in a development or manufacturing setting and thrive
• Ability to lead projects and project teams through openness and honesty and have the courage to make tough calls when needed
• Strong understanding of all facets of product creation that include innovation, design, development, research, engineering, materials, and manufacturing
• Proficient problem solver with a highly developed ability to deal with ambiguity
• Ability to lead multiple sophisticated projects at one time and prioritize work according to potential impact with agility to switch priorities as circumstances require
• Footwear experience preferred; Experience in other related industries like tires, polyurethane, plastics manufacturing, etc. may also be considered
• Must have a customer focused, collaborative approach to working and be able to give clear direction to team members and factory partners
• Ensures accountability of oneself and others
• Passion for sustainability and continues improvement
• Experience with data analysis tools such as JMP, Minitab, Statistica, or Excel and familiarity with design of experiments
