Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of development experience with Linux or Android BSP (Board Support Package)/OS development.
• Experience with embedded systems or architectures.
• Ability to speak and write in English fluently.
  
  

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with highly performant code, low-level systems (e.g., Android OS, compiler) or large-scale systems.
• Experience with operating system (e.g., Linux).
• Experience with architecture and application performance analysis.
• Experience with Linux kernel scheduler, memory management/DVFS, or thermal management.
• Excellent C/C++ programming skill.
• Interest in solving performance problems in full stack.

With your technical expertise you will manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. You will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions.

Our team defines, bring ups, and polishes product platforms, defines and drive the system software roadmap focusing on the device performance and power consumption by exploring and optimizing major application processor components (e.g., CPU task scheduling, CPU frequency/idle management, system fabric/memory bus utilization optimization, SoC/system thermal management, etc.).

The Google Pixel team focuses on designing and delivering the world’s most helpful mobile experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

Responsibilities

• Analyze the utilization of the key component of System on a Chip (SoC) like Central Processing Unit (CPU), Graphics Processing Unit (GPU), and Memory subsystem.
• Define, design, and implement novel approaches to make our software significantly more performance. Debug difficult software optimization issues (e.g., root causing performance regressions).
• Work with engineers across the organization to bring up Pixel product with performance (e.g., reducing display, audio, application launch time, boot time, etc.).
• Analyze and improve the performance of various subsystems in Pixel phone from kernel task scheduler to Android framework service.
• Improve performance data instrumentation infrastructure in Linux kernel and Android.
