Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Communications/Electrical Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience in embedded software development or Android Software development.
• Experience in C/C++ programming.
  
  

Preferred qualifications:

• 5 years of experience in cellular wireless technologies and/or IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS).
• 3 years of experience in Android app development and/or android frameworks.

The Pixel Telephony team is growing rapidly to support the next wave of technologies and devices in the connectivity domain. We’re looking for a small set of extremely talented and passionate engineers to help us on this journey.

We work on developing and launching cutting edge mobile communication technologies, and collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure a high performance, reliable, and data connectivity experience for Pixel and Android users. Our team designs and develops Android applications, Android telephony/connectivity framework that improves connectivity of the Phones and Wearables. We also work on the 3GPP standard teams and other standardization bodies related to telecomunications.

Responsibilities

• Propose, design and develop new Telephony features in Pixel-specific Android applications and/or in the Android framework, with additional software components on the server side (when needed).
• Collaborate with other Software teams in Google and external parties (mobile chipset vendors, mobile operators, and OEMs) to design, develop, and launch features and products on time and with highest quality.
• Understand the mobile wireless requirements and carrier specifications to implement new features defined by standard bodies or mobile operators that enhance the user experience.
• Debug and fix bugs reported during integration and field testing, and define mechanisms to mitigate issues.
• Propose and implement various performance optimizations across the telephony stack. Define metrics for Pixel device performance and validation to detect rate issues.
