le contenu du travail

At Verizon Media, we connect people to their passions. With brands like Yahoo, TechCrunch and more, we help people stay informed and entertained, communicate and transact while creating new ways for advertisers and partners to connect. From XR experiences to advertising and content technology, Verizon Media is an incubator of innovation and is revolutionizing the next generation of content creation in a 5G world.

Verizon Media brands comprise some of the premier destinations on the Internet -- Yahoo, Techcrunch, AOL, and more. This means that we rely on massively scalable, widely distributed, highly performant systems. If you want to help solve complex problems for systems like these, we are looking for you.

Verizon Media’s Business Analytics and Insights team is looking for a versatile data enthusiast with rich experience in big data processing, excellent analytical skills, sound knowledge about experimental design, and proven ability to communicate analytical findings. We are responsible for providing fast, clean, and relevant data for Verizon Media’s advertising businesses as well as key measurements and insights about the users of Verizon Media.

You are always curious, self-motivated, and eager to learn new domain knowledge and analytics tools. You are an out-of-the-box thinker, a believer in data driven approaches, and a quick learner. You enjoy working with a strong, cross-functional, and sometimes cross-geography team of business analysts, engineers, product managers, sales leads, and business leads.

You always think positive, have the can-do attitude, and focus on “getting stuff done” with quality. You make those around you better and enjoy working collaboratively. You are responsible and are always thinking of how your work can impact the broader organization.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Understand the Business and Data: Support Business subject matter experts to discover insights into advertiser, publisher, product, user, and auction dynamics. Understand the underlying data systems and schemas that can inform these measurements.
  • Analysis & Dashboarding: Conduct ad hoc investigations and create ongoing dashboards and reports that provide analysis and commentary, explaining business trends and market drivers using intuitive visualizations (Looker, Tableau, R, Spreadsheets, etc)
  • Data Engineering: Develop data pipelines (ETL) from multiple data sources with design, performance, and end customer in mind (Pig, Hive, Oozie, Python, SQL, PLSQL, etc). Partner with engineering teams across data sources to address technical and functional requirements.
  • Investigation & Troubleshooting: Expert at “cracking” complex business and analytical problems. In particular, experience in working with large data sets, identifying and troubleshooting data discrepancies via automated scripts, developing data models/schemas, and working cross-functionally towards resolution.
  • Cross-Functional Operations: Work closely with internal and external partner teams to drive operational efficiencies and to test and launch product improvements and algorithms. Excellent personal communication and relationship-building skills are needed.
What You’ll Need
  • BS/MS in quantitative field or equivalent experience
  • Extensive years of experience in analytics, data engineering, and dashboarding
  • Experience working with large and complex data sets
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Looker, Tableau, etc)
  • Strong database skills (e.g. MySQL, Oracle) and familiarity with spreadsheets (Excel, Google Sheets, Pivot Tables, Formulas)
  • Experience with programming languages such as Perl/Python/R/Java is preferred
  • Experience with the Hadoop ecosystem is preferred, but not required (Pig, Hive, Presto, Oozie)
  • Experience with Search Advertising strongly preferred
