Region APC > Construction & Operations APAC > APAC Offshore EPCI Technical SupportPart of the Technical Support Team of the Installation and Commissioning Team, primarily responsible for maintaining WTSR (Wind Turbine Safety Rules) standards and helping enforce Safe System of Work practices within the offshore windfarms to ensure personnel safety is kept as the highest priority. Ensure that all wind turbine operations adhere to the safety rules and regulations set by industry and regulatory bodies, develop and implement safety rules, procedures and work instructions for wind turbine operations and monitor adherence to those rules.Responsibilities
  • Ensure implementation and compliance with High Voltage Safety Rules (HVOSR’s).
  • Production of switching schedules and carrying out switching HV networks on new building offshore wind power generators connected to clients grids.
  • Manage switching, testing, commissioning, fault diagnosis and maintaining of high voltage networks in liaison with client technical department and Site Offshore commissioning manager
  • Preparation and briefing of risk assessments and method statements for installation and maintenance tasks. Ability to take the lead in fault location activities.
  • Planning and Scheduling requirements in alignment with Project Delivery requirements.
  • Review and consolidate of Documentation required from a technical perspective for Project completion Handovers.
  • Assist with execution of HV maintenance program across various sites.
  • Follow, understand and advise on local procedures on Control of Hazardous Energy / Electrical Safety standards, particularly to areas where alternative safe systems / methods of work may be applied.
  • Provide technical support to Site Management and technicians onshore as well as offshore, into mechanical / electrical related safety and operations issues
  • Conceptual design and specification of High Voltage Equipment
  • Create requirement specification for High Voltage Switchgears and Cables
  • Conduct peer and technical reviews according to the design project model
  • Supplier management and review of suppliers design
  • Set targets for how to qualify components and create test verification procedures
  • Approve suppliers tests with and write test- and design verification reports
  • Approve test and validation of prototypes
  • Provide technical support to strategic purchaser in evaluating supplier performance
  • Participate in QA Audits at suppliers facilities
  • Implementation of equipment into our turbine platform
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Marine Engineering (STCW ETO III/6 or Engineering Officer III/1. III/2 or III/3).
  • Practical experience in High Voltage equipment
  • Design experience on high voltage power systems
  • Experienced in writing design specifications and verification reports
  • Structured, open-minded, committed, communicative, self-motivated and robust
  • Good at presenting technical material to peers and management
  • 3 working offshore as technical advisor
  • Minimum of 2 years holding a SAP authorization (preferably ENA MDSR - Model Distribution Safety Rules)
  • Ideally relevant previous wind industry technical & operational experience working with VWS or MVOW Wind Turbines
  • Several years experience with LOTO/WTSR/HV Rules
  • Good knowledge of WTSR, HV Safety Rules, similar Safe Systems of Work, supporting procedures and documentation
  • Proficient Microsoft Office user
  • Good communication and presentation skills in English
  • Proven experience in a safety engineering role in the wind turbine industry.
  • Good knowledge of industry and regulatory safety rules and regulations.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and make sound safety recommendations.
  • Experience with safety auditing and inspection processes.
  • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to develop effective corrective actions.
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel to wind turbine sites for safety inspections and audits.
  • Familiarity with a variety of HV switchgear, transformers and associated cabling systems
  • Basic fault diagnosis and testing of HV/MV protection schemes. Working knowledge of the various components of a typical protection scheme and their inter-connection.
  • Ability to apply specification to materials list set out as a Bill of Quantities for the Project.
