Camera Program Manager -- MSFT project

Introduction:

If you’re passionate about building cool devices & technologies. The premium tablet team focuses on building devices that fully express client’s vision. A fundamental part of client’s strategy is having desirable & powerful devices that enable experiences people want, and elicit their excitement. Creating these devices involves a close partnership between HW & SW engineers, designers, manufacturing. We are currently building next generation and premium tablet needs you!

Role & Opportunity:

We are seeking an energetic PM to define & execute development from concept to prototype to implementation for premium tablet product memories.

You will work w/ internal & external partner teams, marketing, user exp., product management, architects, development, verification, reliability, manufacturing, quality assurance, safety, certification, environmental teams to align objectives, create functional specifications, implement & execute plans, and ultimately deliver a high-quality product.

Responsibilities:

  • Dictating & enforcing confidentiality and IP protection policies
  • Cultivating a world-class HW community—learning about new companies/technologies & sharing w/ peers, learning from and coaching existing partners, documenting methodology, procedure, best practices, providing feedback, driving continuous improvement
  • Partnering w/ Functional Mgr. to develop team members (i.e., provide active feedback on team members, promotion paths, etc.)
  • Partnering w/ Sourcing, Devel., Reliability, Mfg., Safety, Compliance Teams to develop & maintain camera roadmap, to select suppliers through a disciplined RFQ/RFI process
  • Owning subsystem, system, supplier team relationship--representing subsystem, system, supplier teams when making decision & at meetings
  • Justifying & prioritizing feature set against product vision & strategy
  • Defining & aligning investments to enable vision & project execution w/ internal/external partner teams
  • Writing detailed functional or requirement spec. that enable product engineering to execute
  • Evangelizing feature set across engineering, biz. & Sr. leadership
  • Building transparent project and biz. plans (.xls, .mpp, etc.), followed by comm. plan & status w/ project stakeholders
  • Maintaining a healthy “willingness to do biz. again” relationship w/ company across Supply Chain
  • Removing barriers (i.e., product definition, resource constraints, tradeoff decisions, budget, etc.) for internal/external cross-functional execution team
  • Anticipating risks—assessing, mitigating, managing accordingly
  • Driving execution & delivery of project collateral using common engineering tools, triage, tracking tasks & issues & reporting
  • Owning decision to take calculated risks after comm. risks & tradeoffs w/ subsystem, system, supplier teams system teams & getting mgmt. approval (as needed)
  • Organizing & present program reviews/status to engineering, biz. & Sr. mgmt.
  • Scheduling & driving meetings vertically & horizontally to ensure comm. & decision-making
  • Driving cross-organizational execution meetings, syncing w/ US-based PMs & engineering teams
  • Coordinating design efforts between US-based Devel. Teams & Asia-based suppliers
  • Partnering w/ US-based Devel., Factory Mgmt., SQE Teams to ensure quality shipments (meet spec) to Tier 1 contract manufacturer
  • Partnering w/ Factory Mgmt. and SQE Teams to ensure proper Tier 1 policies that prevent camera damage, to track defect dpm & fault-responsibility and drive continuous improvement actions at all supply chain tiers
  • Partnering w/ all execution & stakeholder teams to ensure mfg. continuity of supply
  • Partnering w/ Sourcing & Factory Mgmt. to track & reduce COGS & spending
  • Partnering will all internal cross-functional & external supplier teams to maintain Supplier Performance Review process to drive & track continuous improvement & understand emerging
  • Qualifications:

  • Effective English written and oral communication skills
  • Min. 5 years in the consumer electronics market
  • Min. 2 years as a technical program manager or engineer in the camera Industry
  • Technical understanding of camera technologies, supply chain interactions, and manufacturing processes
  • Overall understanding of consumer system architecture related to the camera
  • Strong electrical and or mechanical background with a passion for shipping products
  • Solid math and engineering background, with a strong understanding of statistics
  • Solid critical thinking and questioning skills and be familiar with FMEA, 8D/5C RCCA, and other Failure Analysis techniques such as Decision Tree, Fishbone, Is-Is Not, Pareto, Why-Why, etc.
  • High degree of flexibility, willing to immediately fill in the gaps rather than waiting for others to step up
  • Strategic/tactical leadership skills—enthusiastic, self-driven, organized, and motivated to achieve results
  • Excellent cross-organizational and project management skills, thriving in a highly innovative, evolving, and ambiguous environment
  • Held responsibility for the creation of functional specifications, project schedules, and risk mitigation plans
  • Must demonstrate initiative and ownership of assigned responsibilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively and openly with cross-functional Team Leaders, members and client
  • Soft Skills: Good listener, positive attitude, sense of humor, open minded, respect, patience, resolving issues, etc.
  • Experience working in a collaborative environment and promoting a teamwork mentality
  • Patience to detail, Good analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to predict challenges and seek to proactively head-off obstacles
  • Can work under pressure
  • Working permit and Mandarin ability are required with foreigner
