Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
• 5 years of experience in product quality process development and best practices with mobile or consumer electronics manufacturing
• Ability to speak and write in English and Mandarin fluently
• Ability to travel up to 50% of the time, regionally and internationally
  
  

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience implementing quality escalation processes and on-going product improvements with contract manufacturing (CM) partners
• Experience supporting cross-functional problem-solving teams by using practical approaches (e.g., quality metrics, design of experiments, statistical process control, Six Sigma, etc.)
• Experience in audio, wireless, and display consumer electronics industries and the technical details of quality issues/risks
• Ability to effectively communicate with project teams
  
  

About The Job

Google has one of the largest and most powerful computing infrastructures in the world. Your team is responsible for providing the manufacturing capability to deliver this state-of-the-art physical infrastructure. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you evaluate the product designs and create the processes, tools and procedures behind Google’s powerful search technology. When vendors build parts for our infrastructure, you’re right there alongside ensuring manufacturing processes are repeatable and controlled. You collaborate with Commodity Managers and Design Engineers to determine Google’s infrastructure needs and product specifications. Your work ensures the various pieces of Google’s infrastructure fit together perfectly and keep our systems humming along smoothly for a seamless user experience.

In this role, you will evaluate the product designs and create the quality processes, tools, and procedures to help improve the customer experience by improving product quality at our manufacturing site.

You will work with Product Management, Product Design, System Engineering, Product Operations, and Supply Chain teams to ensure the product represents the Google brand.

Responsibilities

• Enable others to set the proper quality priorities and put risk mitigation plans in place.
• Define and implement product quality plans during the development phase. Participate in the design for quality review process with Engineering and Manufacturing partners.
• Define specific cosmetic requirements at product and key component level, and communicate with Manufacturing partners to implement in quality controlled processes.
• Align Final Assembly Test Pack (FATP), Incoming Quality Control (IQC), and Supplier Outgoing Quality Control (OQC) plans and measurement techniques, sustaining management with Manufacturing partners.
• Drive design of experiments and collect statistical process control to enable evaluation, qualification, and verification cost-effectively in manufacturing quality across functional teams. Implement production quality metric integration, and research both design/process controls and audits at CM partners.
