Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Purpose Of The Position

Emphasis on TPOCS Mold/molding capacity development strategy :
  • Mold P&L improvement aligned process optimization and unit cost price competition from outsource vendor
  • Mold NPI design capacity working with Division Engineering and shopfloor operation with quality requirement from design stage, then transferring to Manufacturing.
  • Support mold design capacity and quality improvement for Corning Global Molding Strategy
Day To Day Responsibilities
  • Receive product and process transfers to Manufacturing with Division Engineering.
  • Utilize statistical techniques (DOE, SPC), manufacturing intelligence data, and DMAIC methodologies to develop Mold/INJ process understanding to support robust manufacturing processes to raising OLE and OEE.
  • Cost structuring improvement from DFM quotation process, RFQ, and actual Mfg cost
  • Evaluate part design for moldability under Corning Global Mold Design process.
  • Responsible for 3D mold design and 2D drawing and release drawing to tool shop and visibly support the establishment and maintenance of a safe work environment.
  • Through TPM & Lean to identify gaps in plant manufacturing capabilities with Division Engineering and make recommendations to improve.
  • Establish the optimum process for lowest total cost to manufacture a product.

  • Design capacity improvement projects.
  • Other product project supporting if needed, such as Turning, milling, molding and mold making
