Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience working in electrical measurement, reliability test, mechanical test, or thermal measurement field.
  
  

Preferred qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience working in a JDM/ODM company.
• Knowledge of server system architecture, including physical, functional, logical, mechanical, electrical, software and thermal.
• Ability to coordinate and manage the needs of multiple lab users.
• Excellent written/verbal communication and people management skills.
  
  

About The Job

Google’s custom-designed machines make up one of the largest and most powerful computing infrastructures in the world. The Hardware Testing Engineering team ensures that this cutting-edge equipment is reliable. In the R&D lab, you design test equipment for prototypes of our machinery and develop the protocols used to scale these tests for the entire global team. Working closely with design engineers, you give input on designs to improve our hardware until you’re sure it meets Google’s standards of quality and reliability.

You implement hardware and software tests to ensure that equipment meets our client and customer needs. You also anticipate and diagnose software issues.

The Platform team is the key to designing Google proprietary cutting edge compute and storage machines to fulfill Google Data Center internal use and external Cloud customers. As a Hardware Test Engineer for Lab, you will ensure the quality and reliability of the design.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with all the cross-functional teams to support the design validation in Electrical Engineer/Manufacturing Engineer/Thermal/Power measurement.
• Maintain the test setup including equipment and Device Under Test (DUT) in the lab.
• Manage day to day operation of the Lab and all the activities including safety.
• Manage the lab inventory and logistics.
