Job Description

The Medical Manager (MM) contributes to the development of medical strategy and provides Medical input into Brand Strategies and Medical guidance for therapeutic areas ensuring support of the life cycle of NMD products.

The Medical Manager should have expertise in and knowledge of therapeutic areas, patient-treatment trends, clinical trials and scientific activities within the therapeutic area and continuously update this expertise and knowledge. He or she should be able to translate complex medical scientific content to tactics and have project management skills /expertise or experience in managing Medical projects.

Key Accountabilities

He/She Will Have Accountability For The Following

This role works to execute the medical affairs component of the portfolio and brand Strategies within the Taiwan Medical Organization and will also have responsibility for certain APAC (ex JPN/ANZ/ China) medical activities.
  • Shape the strategic direction of the brand by being an active contributor to the cross functional team
  • Participate actively in the development of medical strategies and action plans within his/ her competency.
  • Implement the affiliate medical plans, partnering with cross functional teams across to define, establish and execute a coherent strategic plan that addresses patient needs
  • Co-work with medical lead to ensure full alignment with global/regional strategy and support better understanding of current local challenges and clinical practice needs for patients
  • Attend local/international congresses and company meetings/training to maintain knowledge levels, network with key internal and external stakeholders as well as identify suitable KOLs to include in local Medical Activities
  • Co-work with medical lead to manage budgets for medical activities and provide input into the country budgeting and planning process
  • Medical Project Operations and optimization:
  • Drive and/or support strategy and scientific content development for digital medical platforms. Monitor and analyze the performance and recommend action if necessary.
  • Lead Medinfo process optimization, including call center set up, vendor management and update SRL with internal review process
  • Co-work with medical lead to maintain the locally-specific patient support program, and monitor the performance.
  • Lead and execute medical activities including meeting management and external engagements (advisory boards, congresses, medical education activities) ...etc
  • Field Engagement:
  • The SMA MM is expected to require to be 1-2 days in the field per standard week
  • Establishes long term scientific/strategic relationships with leading specialists (physicians, physical therapists, allied health), and with related medical societies and academic centers of excellence.
  • Build high value-added continuous medical educational programs for external stakeholders
  • Participate actively in the monthly cross functional team KME analysis meetings
Qualifications
  • MSc; Advanced Scientific or Clinical degree is required or equivalent combination of experience and education; >2 years’ experience as medical science liaison (pharmaceutical or CRO) or medical studies
  • Prior experience in field engagement; Proven expertise in Medical within product life cycle management, local regulations and code of practice; Experience in developing and exceuting on medical plan, management of a local expanded access program or patient support program; at least bi-lingual (English + local language business fluency)
  • Proven ability to interact with external customers (key medical experts)
  • Strong customer focused, science based
  • Proven ability to present scientific data and key messages to academic and non-academic audience
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, scientific and non-scientific, throughout all levels
  • Excellent Communication, Interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of Regulatory Affairs, Drug Safety, Legal and compliance environment
  • Team worker

  • High energy level and able to deal with challenges
