Purpose Of The Position

Role supports Corning’s Manufacturing, Technology and Engineering (MT&E) corporate engineering directorate based in Asia to support all Corning Incorporated manufacturing plants in Asia-Pacific regions. Project assignments may involve extensive travel of up to 75% to Taiwan, Japan, China, India, S. Korea and USA.

Project Involved With

Project focus will be the implementation of robust, cost-effective automation and process machine systems in Corning’s manufacturing plants and will require collaboration with manufacturing, control system, process engineering, and other related organizations.

Day To Day Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the accuracy of work performed; takes a proactive approach to ensure high quality of work.
  • Able to work independently to develop process equipment design concepts and detail mechanisms in response to manufacturing issues/problems.
  • Communicate ideas and project status clearly and professionally through graphic and written media and oral presentations.
  • Interface with external machine builders, systems integrators, and suppliers to specify and successfully deliver fully integrated equipment systems to the internal customers on-time, on-budget, and in satisfaction of process performance measures.
  • Provide necessary documentation of activities, results and assignments.
  • Direct vendors in the construction of prototype and production equipment.
  • Perform tests and evaluate data to make preliminary recommendations regarding equipment performance.
Education & Experience
  • BS or above degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • At least 3+ years of working experience with mechanical design and equipment construction is a plus
  • At least 3+ years in automation system integration and precision component engineering
  • 3+ international project experience involving new product development and new automation equipment development, prototyping, debug and optimization.
  • 3+ Project leading experience
Required Skills
  • Good commanding on precision equipment design and process equipment automation integration
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Solidworks/Inventor or PRO-E/UG software.
  • Detail oriented and able to perform with limited supervision
  • Effective, high quality oral and written communication skills
  • Proactive, independent, flexible, quick learner
  • Excellent computer skills (working knowledge and use of Microsoft Office)
  • Customer oriented; meets customer needs with quality results
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with others
