General Statement:

The head of department of biology will oversee all biology studies for OBI biologics and small molecules programs. You will lead an Immuno-Oncology team to validate existing targets and identify new therapeutic targets with focus on mechanism of action and proof-of-concept studies in the area of immune oncology.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic and technical leadership across immuno-oncology pre-clinical projects and initiatives.
  • Lead a team to develop and conduct in vitro and ex vivo mechanism of action studies to validate the targets and support efficacy studies.
  • Support drug discovery programs by providing relevant scientific and strategic inputs to project teams.
  • Contribute and implement new ideas with in vitro and/or in vivo proof of concept studies to enable initiation of new discovery project
  • Leverages up-to-date knowledge of Immuno-Oncology drug development and competitive landscape
  • Cutting-edge expertise and depth of knowledge in Immuno-Oncology drug development.
  • Prepare summaries of work for reports, patent applications, and presentations..

Experience and skills required:

  • PhD or MD, with research experience in the fields of immunology, oncology, or cancer immunotherapy.
  • Minimum 5 years industry experience in advancing Immunology / Immuno-Oncology programs with solid track record of simultaneous support of multiple programs and able to work well across multi-functional groups
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge and independent critical thinking of Immunological principles and concepts.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Is highly knowledgeable in Drug Discovery, and specifically in the Immunology / Immuno-Oncology area, from target identification through late preclinical research.
  • Is highly creative, collaborative, and capable of troubleshooting to solve problems
  • Shows respect for colleagues and passion for learning.
  • Proactively shares expertise and ideas, demonstrates flexibility, and open-mindedness
