About The Job

Google engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. As a member of an extraordinarily creative, motivated and talented team, you develop new products that are used by millions of people. We need our engineers to be versatile and passionate to take on new problems as we continue to push technology forward. If you get excited about building new things and working across discipline lines, then our team might be your next career step.

As Hardware System Validation Engineer, you will be responsible for consumer hardware product excellence by performing system-level electrical validation and design optimization. You have a solid hardware system design and validation background with small form-factor Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) and knowledge of overall system architecture of consumer electronic products.

You will define hardware system quality and validation strategy for high-speed interfaces, power, Radio Frequency (RF), user experience, etc. You will work cross-functionally with teams to validate and deliver products from concept to mass production. You will educate/train Hardware Test Engineers and review/communicate the results of their work with the System Design Engineers.

Google’s mission is to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful. Our Hardware team researches, designs, and develops new technologies and hardware to make our user’s interaction with computing faster, more powerful, and seamless. Whether finding new ways to capture and sense the world around us, advancing form factors, or improving interaction methods, our Hardware team is making people’s lives better through technology.

Responsibilities

  • Own overall hardware system validation and quality optimization of hardware products.
  • Author test plans with the goal of catching issues and fixing them at early design stage to improve the overall product quality and meet schedule.
  • Execute validation tests in the lab and oversee execution of tasks assigned to external vendors.
  • Collaborate with other engineers in system bring-up, design verification, troubleshooting, failure analysis, and design optimization. Resolve issues, implement corrective actions, and improve system performance.
  • Work with internal test engineers, partner engineers, and contract manufacturer on transitioning product to mass production and assist with product sustaining efforts.
