Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3 years of relevant work experience with Android RIL or Telephony.
• Experience in C, C++, and Java programming.
  
  

Preferred qualifications:

• 5 years of experience with Android RIL or Telephony or Data.
• Experience with Unix/Linux environments and the development of Linux device drivers.
• Experience with TCP/IP networking (DNS, DHCP, etc.) troubleshooting.
• Experience with application software or modem software development.
• Knowledge of and experience in Voice (including WFC, VoLTE, ViLTE, VONR) and Data Call performance/power optimization.
• Excellent problem-solving, analysis, and troubleshooting skills.

Google’s Firmware Engineers develop technologies that enhance how users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. Our products need to manage information at a massive scale, and extend well beyond web search.

As a Firmware Engineer, you’ll work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs, with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our business grows and evolves. You will be versatile, display leadership qualities, and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward. You’ll develop the whole software stack for Android devices. You will also help architect, develop, test, and deploy complex embedded consumer devices.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and support Android Telephony/RIL features for Google Pixel devices.
• Collaborate with chipset vendors and mobile operators to develop and launch features for Google Pixel.
• Conduct technical deep reviews to resolve firmware/software issues.
