Minimum qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Communications/Electrical Engineering or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with LTE and 5G NR.
• Experience in 3GPP Layer 2/Layer 3 protocols.
• Experience in C/C++ and embedded RTOS.
  
  

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience in 3GPP LTE/NR Layer 2/Layer 3 protocol standards.
• Familiarity with the modem development process and/or certification/conformance process.
• Ability to be autonomous and to manage multiple changes and priorities during the development phase.
• Excellent communication skills.
  
  

About The Job

As a Firmware Engineer for Layer 2 (L2) and Layer 3 (L3), you’ll focus on development, integration, customization, and performance enhancement of modem L2/L3 features on Android devices, working closely with Pixel software teams, original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and vendors. You’ll be the point of contact for all debugging, analyzing, and fixing modem L2/L3 issues from certification (GCF/PTCRB/IOT), field testing and customers.

Additionally, you’ll be responsible for validating the function and performance of L2/L3 features for in-market projects to guarantee the modem software quality. On this team, you will not only have the opportunity to expand your domain knowledge vertically (from PHY to NAS/AS) and understand the modem more deeply from the viewpoint of the system, but also propose your innovative and practical ideas to optimize engineering efficiency and software quality for the modem software.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and fix the 3GPP Layer 2/Layer 3 Modem protocol issues from the testing team, certification lab, and customers.
• Work closely with global carriers to meet customer’s performance requirements.
• Act as point of contact or lead cross-layer teams (e.g., PHY, AS, and NAS layer) to collaborate with cross-organization teams (e.g., Android Software (SW), Technical Program Manage/Technical Account Manager and Hardware) to deliver high quality Pixel modem SW from certification efforts.
• Generate and/or develop features, ideas, process, and/or system to help product velocity and quality.
