10-month, full-time position.

Job Description: A member of the team working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorders in the Instructional Classrooms, responsible for assisting in classroom activities through implementation of individualized student schedules, individualized behavior management programs, including crisis intervention techniques, use of sensory strategies with students, provision of academic support.

Primary Responsibilities

• Identifies problem areas and assists staff in initiating corrective interventions.
• Helps to establish therapeutic relationships among students, staff and parents, recognizes their individual needs, and accurately observes, assesses and documents their mood, behavior, verbalization and implementation of appropriate interventions.
• Assists the teacher in providing structure in the classroom by initiating activities and enabling students to utilize free time appropriately.
• Assists the teacher with instruction in academic subjects.
• Contributes to the planning and implementation of individual educational intervention plans by providing accurate assessments based on observations and interactions.
• Effectively leads groups and activities as assigned under the supervision of certified staff. Evaluate and maintains a safe environment. Assists educational team with crisis prevention and physical intervention, as needed.
  
  

Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Science or Special Education or Bachelor’s Degree in another field with experience working with children with disabilities.
