Minimum qualifications:
  • 4 years of experience working as a Component Engineer.
  • 3 years of industry experience with library generation using Cadence Concept and Allegro.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience of Approved Manufacturer List (AML) data entry, update, and maintenance in Agile Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system. Familiarity of Part Number Request (PNR) process in Agile.
  • Deep knowledge of sensors, passives, and crystals. Knowledge of best practices on electronic component qualification requirements.
  • Understanding of electronic component materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to take initiative with a passion for excellence and strong attention to detail. Ability to adapt to work cross-functionally to establish solid/scalable processes.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Drive engagement with vendor partners as the Nest/Google technical expert; identify future strategic opportunities (custom and off-the-shelf), manage part qualifications, lifecycle changes, de-commits, natural disasters, and failure analysis investigations.
  • Join new design bill of materials (BOM) review meetings weekly and proactively provide second source or alternate for electrical off-the-shelf components. Define Google internal standard/test plans that components must be qualified against and drive execution using internal and external resources.
  • Manage component obsolescence and identify/qualify alternate sources.
  • Own the integrity of the Nest electrical component database; pull new parts with the proper description, parametric information, category, and part number, and maintain the AVL database.
  • Support eCAD library, which involves creation of schematic logic symbols, PCB footprints, and managing those eCAD library databases.
