In Shift Energy Taiwan, the company’s development arm is responsible for originating, designing, developing, construction managing, operating, and financing solar power assets in Japan & Taiwan.

Overview

We are looking for energetic, intellectual, curious, and ambitious people to join our team as in the role of Chief Accountant of Shift Energy Taiwan. As Chief Accountant you will guide the team to ever-higher levels of cohesiveness, self-organization, and performance by being an expert, advisor, motivator, facilitator and coach. Based in our Hong Kong office, your involvement will impact all members of the team and you should thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Main responsibilities

  • Oversight of Shift Energy Taiwan and subsidiaries - financial & management reporting, audits, budgeting, and forecasting, cashflow analysis and management, and tax.
  • Strong accounting knowledge in GAAP & IFRS.
  • Assist with banking activities like setting up new accounts, adding new signatures, bank reconciling items, bank fees, etc.
  • Prepare and record general ledger entries. Verify all records are properly maintained and stored in Oracle Netsuite.
  • Consistent review for new processes to increase efficiency and accuracy through procedures and/or system improvements.
  • Ensure all financial activities comply to the policies, procedures, and work instruction manuals.
  • Initiate proposals to develop and maintain the new financial activities.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • For right teammate: Potential for career advancement to run accounting and finance in Taiwan and potentially across the Asia region.

Month-end

  • Initiate and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual process of reviewing the financial statements and present to management for Shift Energy Taiwan and subsidiaries.
  • Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
  • Maintain accuracy through use of internal controls and reporting.
  • Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents.
  • Support Group Accounting Team with monthly consolidation activities, as needed.

Financials/Reporting

  • Prepare accurate, internal financial statements by analyzing information from general ledger system as needed.
  • Prepare monthly cashflows, management & financial reports across SELLC, SECHI and SEUSA.
  • Attend to any investor enquiries and requests for financial information.
  • Assist in providing any financial information and analysis requested by the business.

Tax & compliance

  • Assist in managing and coordinating the annual audit for Shift Energy Taiwan and all the subsidiaries in Taiwan.
  • Coordinate with external tax accounting firm to ensure state and tax (VAT) compliance.
  • Work with tax returns and analyze financial information to ensure taxes are paid on time.
  • Preparation of audit schedules and interface with internal and external auditors, as needed.

Key skills

  • Highly-adaptable personality seeking a challenging and rewarding business environment.

  • MS Office with a focus on PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Good communication in English and preferably Chinese language skills (spoken and written).
  • Ability to ask and answer the question “What do I know?” in order to come to a solution quickly.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Diligent and precise.

Must haves

  • Degree or recognized qualification in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA Experience will be plus.
  • Extensive ERP experience.
  • Strong communication skills.
