Purpose

This position is to provide analytical support for TW Operation in NK site. The position is to ensure there is adequate support and leadership for analytical to Operation and Maintenance in NK site. This position is responsible for ensuring that analytical is properly installed, documented and has adequate support for on-line analyzers on site. Additionally, the person in this position will define and coordinate training for analytical staff, lead the transfer of new analytical technology and methods, review and coordinate activities with AOTS Analytical team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for support of analytical in production facilities and assisting with optimization and troubleshooting of plant processes by employing analytical techniques. The role will also be involved in development, validation and implementation of methods. Responsibilities include instrument selection, method validation, installation, commissioning, documentation, training and support. The job requires working with operations and engineering personnel to deploy temporary and permanent analytical systems in support of ongoing operations. The person in this role will work with a global team to achieve consistency in systems and work practices among production facilities. Hands-on experience with chromatography, infrared spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry is desired. The job requires self-motivation, the ability to work unsupervised, great communications skills and ability to work well in a multi-regional, multi-cultural team.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

· Proactive problem creating and solving - identifying and solving the problems existing in processes and analytical systems to give team as much early warning before the impacts are felt by the business.

· Ensure reliability of analytical results – Ensure there are processes to review methods, validation studies, calibration practices, and maintenance of analytical systems at manufacturing facilities within China; verify required documentation of methods and storage of data are complete, proper and available.

· Support implementation of analytical maintenance and spare part strategy – Work with Plant Maintenance, Materials Management and Operations to establish processes for analytical maintenance to ensure optimal systems operation; Ensure proper and complete preventive maintenance tasks are implement and spare parts are defined and stocked.

· Participate in planning and execution of capital projects – Ensure OTS Analytical reviews with capital project plans and assist with the development of scope documents; ensure analytical systems comply with global standards and are consistent with practices at existing facilities.

· Coordinate and provide training to analytical personnel – Responsible for developing skills and expertise of Analytical personnel on site. Ensure analytical personnel in Plant maintenance and plant floor have adequate training so they will be capable of independently maintaining and troubleshooting analytical systems. Develop training matrices for all key analytical positions; provide training to analytical personnel; coordinate training by internal and external groups.

· Provide technical support for operations and business areas - Interface with operations to resolve issues that involve or can be addressed with analytical; coordinate investigation of customer complaints; review business needs and align needs with analytical capabilities; make customer presentations to support product lines.

· Maintain and manage technical relationships with vendors – Ensure relationships with all key vendors are managed by self or staff and a good working relationship with sales and technical experts is maintained. Ensure any issues with vendors are escalated to AP Technology owners and E&M.

· Optimize methods and work processes, improve efficiency – Be a champion of improvement in analytical operations and in supporting PPE and Operations in optimization efforts. Coordinate with PPE leads and provide them analytical technical support.

· Interface with operations and business management: Interface regularly with line management, business areas, and Quality to prioritize work, provide technical information/guidance and ensure AOTS Analytical in providing proper support and project execution

· Coordinate with Global teams: Ensure there is representation by Taiwan OTS Analytical Technology team on all Global Analytical teams and maintaining good working relationships with the rest of OTS Analytical Technology regionally and globally to stay current on technology, participate in Best Practice development and sharing, and align work processes, technology and reporting.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• BS or higher in Chemistry or related field with a minimum of 5 years hand-on analytical experience.
• A minimum of 3 years supervising or working with vendor and maintenance team in Analytical technology
• Experience working in an industrial gas or chemical plant is desired
• Proven history of successfully leading analytical projects and work process.
• Strong troubleshooting skills – conduct RCA and generate the failure diagnosis and report
• 30% regional travel required
