Local Unit & Position Description

For the Offshore Substation and Project Certification departments, we are currently looking for structural engineers with a strong profile and keen interest in working with renewable energy.

We deliver services related to certification and verification primarily for Offshore Wind Farms, transformer stations, and onshore support structures for Wind turbines as well as services including floating structures and other novel technologies via technology qualification as well as onshore towers. We provide this as a global service and cover all phases in the certification process from review of early designs to design verification, fabrication surveillance, commissioning, and periodic inspection of installations in operation as well as project management.

Our team is part of DNV´s Renewables Certification unit and has extensive experience with offshore wind projects and has worked with ca. 80% of global offshore wind projects to date. We have an informal and humorous tone among us, flat hierarchies combined with a professional and international working environment. The candidates joining the team will be provided with excellent support to improve their technical knowledge and understanding of offshore projects. The role is open to candidates interested in our locations in Taiwan and Japan.

As an experienced Engineer, you will form part of a multidisciplinary team engaged in design verification activities in different disciplines. The main focus of the work will be on the verification of the structural design for Offshore Substations and/or wind turbine support structures as a technical expert using analysis tools like SESAM, ANSYS, and ABAQUS, etc. Project management responsibilities could be added to the role if desired.

Position Qualifications

Since we are seeking different profiles, suitable candidates will be able to demonstrate some of the below competencies:

  • Engineering degree (M.Sc / B.Sc) in civil, structural or marine engineering, naval architecture, or equivalent
  • relevant experience from similar positions, graduates are welcome as well
  • knowledge of offshore standards and and use of DNV-ST -126
  • experience in relevant analysis tools (e.g., SESAM, ABAQUS, ANSYS, SACS)
  • experience with integrated analysis of bottom fixed and floating structures with dynamic loading and response
  • experience with design of steel structures including fatigue
  • experience with corrosion and steel materials
  • experience with submarine pipeline systems and/or dynamic cables
  • experience with manufacturing and offshore installation survey/surveillance
  • experience with structural probabilistic reliability analyses, seismic analyses, and ship impact analyses
  • project management experience, with understanding of technical interfaces
