Local Unit & Position Description

DNV are currently looking for a Structural Engineer who will join the renewables certification team located in Taipei and report to the Area Manager for Taiwan and Japan. The team is focused on supporting our clients to reduce the risks as they deliver bigger, more efficient, and lower cost projects.

To effectively assist our clients, we are recruiting talented and motivated engineers to join our team.

Main Tasks And Responsibilities

DNV have extensive experience with offshore projects and have worked with 80% of the offshore wind projects to date. The candidate joining the team will be provided with excellent training opportunities to improve their technical knowledge and understanding of offshore projects.

the successful candidate will be focusing on the following: -

Technical review and analysis
  • Assessment and independent analysis of support structures for wind turbines offshore (towers, substructures and foundations etc.)
  • Review client technical documents and methodology to confirm conformance with design standards and certification requirements
  • Participate in development of DNV GL standards and other research-oriented projects
Inspection and survey
  • Take part in quality audits on fabrication workshops
  • Carry out site surveys
  • Review manufacturing documentation
Project Management
  • Deliver consistently high-quality work and meet tight deadlines
  • Work according to accredited certification processes to ensure a consistent, independent and auditable record
  • Interaction, communication and collaboration with colleagues internationally to complete integrated analyses for offshore projects
Communication and customer relationships
  • Lead technical reviews and project progress meetings with clients
  • Regular travel within Taiwan and occasional travel to Europe is expected
  • Manage customer relationships and actively develop new business opportunities in the renewables market
Health and safety
  • Compliance with DNV’s health and safety policies at all times
Position Qualifications
  • Engineering degree (M.Sc. /B.Sc.) within Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • Knowledge of relevant international structural codes and standards
  • Experience with calculation software (SESAM, Sofistik, Ansys, Abaqus, Plaxis, Flac3D or similar)
  • Experience with calculation of steel structures
  • Experience in commonly used office software
