General Summary:

Responsibilities Include

QCT is the number one fabless semiconductor company in the world. This position of Sourcing Special Sr. falls under the QCT Sourcing team will be responsible for module products. The role will work with cross functional teams for development material/equipment surveys and purchasing, NPI sample deliverables, supplier relationships management, and production transition while project phasing into mass production:
  • Consolidate engineering build and customer sample build plans and keep track on schedules and delivery.
  • Survey new suppliers for new material, equipment, services, and components, close all contracts needed to do business, establish vendor codes if their product fits QTI engineering/quality specs.
  • Perform RFQs and prepare recommendation for sourcing manager’s judgement on down selecting supplier.
  • Track components, FP module yield and scraps at module supplier site to see opportunities of cost down for the reference of sourcing manager’s price negotiation.
  • Track liability and E&O management on components and modules for Sourcing manger’s negotiation with suppliers.
  • Formulate strategic forecast and drive capacity commitment with suppliers, oversee capacity expansion, smooth ramping up and down.
  • Resolve conflicts and financial disputes (PO/Invoice) arise from partners in the supply chain.
  • Work with cross functional teams and external partners to ensure project on schedule
  • Manage and improve supplier performance.
  • Maintain cost model and define cost down projection.
  • Host regular meetings with supplier for execution, performance, and business review.
  • Lead supplier qualification and quarterly scorecard review.

Skills/Experience

Proven track record in new product development and supplier relationship management. Ability to translate technical requirements or issues into business context.

Direct hands-on experience and/or Strong familiarity with Thin-film transistor (TFT) technologies, Flexible printed circuits process, electronic material and components, process equipment, and testing hardware and software, and mobile system architecture.

Minimum five years of experience in semiconductor industry with experience in test, high volume manufacturing and planning. Also, well versed in interfacing with various cross functional teams including Design Engineering, Product/Test Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain Management and Program Management.

Advanced Excel and database experience and skills to automate sourcing and cost management process, conduct ROI / Capex analysis, and large data set manipulations.

Education Requirements

B.S. EE, ME, IE preferred.

MBA a plus.

Physical Requirements
  • Frequently transports between offices, buildings, and campuses up to ½ mile.
  • Monitors and utilizes computers and test equipment for more than 6 hours a day.
  • Continuous communication which includes the comprehension of information with colleagues, customers, and vendors both in person and remotely.

General Summary

Minimum Qualifications:

Develops, provides, and executes sourcing strategies, options, working with internal customers to conclude decisions based on technology, cost and schedule requirements, and then drives procurement to completion. Drives business aspects of complex, high impact supplier agreements in collaboration with suppliers and internal cross-functional organizations. Responsible for contract negotiations, cost, technology enablement, device development, and services to ensure capacity and supply assurance.

  • Decisions are moderate in nature. Errors are detected and corrected with relatively minor financial impact or effect on projects, operations, or customer relationships. May require involvement beyond immediate work group to correct.

  • Most tasks require multiple steps which can be performed in various orders; some planning and prioritization must occur to complete the tasks effectively; mistakes may result in some rework.
  • Creativity is needed to draft original documents, imagery, or work products within established guidelines.
  • Deductive and inductive problem solving is required; multiple approaches may be taken/necessary to solve the problem; often information is missing or incomplete; intermediate data analysis/interpretation skills may be required.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities
  • Contributes to the development of sourcing processes based on an understanding of company policies and procedures, as well as standard and Qualcomm’s sourcing principles, theories, and concepts.
  • Executes sourcing strategies and protocols plans for in accordance with supplier engagements or agreements for one’s assigned area of responsibility.
  • Provides sourcing options and recommendations to internal customers based on technology, cost, risks, and schedule requirements. Manages sourcing issues within constraints and escalates other issues as needed.
  • Collects and analyzes data from different sources to identify problems and recommend solutions.
  • Executes contracts in alignment with negotiations, including licensing of IP for integration into end products, pricing, device development and/or supply assurance.
  • Collaborates with individuals internally and externally to complete project work.
  • Manages individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables in line with established processes.
  • Adapts to significant changes and setbacks in order to manage pressure and meet deadlines.
