• 7 years of experience in system software development (e.g., firmware, BIOS, BSP, Linux kernel, BMC, device drivers, and system libraries).
• Experience in Unix/Linux environments.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience in Python/Go and scripting languages (e.g., shell).
• Experience in enterprise server or storage systems, including BIOS, BMC, TCG, SSD, and SATA/SAS.
• Experience in high-performance computing, reliability engineering, software-defined systems, hardware acceleration, and disaggregated computing.
• Experience in secure fleet management of servers and components.
• Experience with developer operations, release management, integration testing, open source development or Open Compute Projects (OCP).

As a Software Engineer in Platforms Storage, you will use the design and coding skills to develop system software for flash, Hard Disk Drives (HDDs), and next-generation disruptive storage technologies. You will explore storage innovations for virtualized environments and Google’s Cloud services.

In this role, you will help us build the storage systems with the latest technologies for high performance, reliability, security, efficiency, and manageability.

Responsibilities

• Develop technical and product roadmaps, and influence executive decisions, define and implement the best practices for multiple teams.
• Lead the programs of system software development for next-generation server and storage systems to adopt the latest technologies of performance, reliability, security, and cost-effectiveness.
• Lead the programs of system software development for large-scale system verification, automating diagnostics, system configuration management, and operation metrics collection.
• Mentor the team by providing guiding feedback and implementing new practices to improve productivity.
• Work on innovative ideas and skills in the team.
