Yahoo’s Search Advertising team is responsible for the Yahoo/Bing platform and products that powers Search Advertising on Yahoo web search, Affiliates, and Partners spanning all devices globally.

A Lot About You

As part of the Web Search Operations team (WSO) within Product Organization, the Web Search Operations Engineer will focus on upholding the bottom line for Yahoo!’s revenue-critical Search advertising platforms. You should be a technical generalist with skills ranging from monitoring/supporting production systems, networks to web development and tool automation. You are a self-starter, able to work independently, possess excellent time management and organizational skills. You must love challenges, be passionate about fixing problems (no matter how big or small) while being customer focused.

This is a full-time position based in either Taiwan. You must be willing to work a variety of days, hours and participate in an on-call rotation.

Your Day
  • Respond to Search support escalations via various channels from multiple domestic and international teams. Provide expert support and product knowledge on Search Advertising products by working closely with Operations, Development, Product, Sales and other Business teams on a variety of Advertiser, Partner or platform technical issues.
  • Critically analyze, review operational metrics and monitoring systems during escalated incidents.
  • Prioritize, resolve issues, brainstorm solutions, and update internal team technical documents.
  • Be able to think outside the box while negotiating resolution and coordinating with Management, Business, Product and Engineering teams.
  • Ensure quality of service and adhere to Service Level Agreement (SLAs) on production problems across a variety of complex Yahoo! and third party technologies, applications, tools, products and services.
  • Use deep analytical skills to work with product, business, and engineering teams to derive and drive long term enterprise fixes beneficial to customers and revenue.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering teams to understand and support new metrics/features/products as part of product suite.
You Must Have
  • BS in Computer Science or a technical field. MS a plus.
  • Working knowledge of a development and scripting language required. Java, PHP and/or Perl a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Linux operating system required. RHEL a plus.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and at least one database environment.
  • Minimum 1 year or more experience in a technical application / product support role. Preferably in an Operations or Enterprise environment.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate complex issues to both technical and non-technical users. Bilingual abilities are a plus.
  • Strong background in user support. Splunk skills desired.
  • Familiarity with current web practices, concepts and cloud services.
  • Excellent initiative, interpersonal and problem solving skills with a strong desire to learn.
  • Prior experience in Search, Advertising, or Online Space is highly desirable
