We are looking for two Network Engineers (Network & Infrastructure and Rack Server Operation Engineer) to maintain network & infrastructure administration, and lab hardware incl. racks, network equipment, power distribution units, etc. Co-work with engineers in our top American client’s next generation of Server Lab (IDC). (client’s largest overseas server lab).

Responsibilities

A. Network & Infrastructure Administration (30%)

• Responsible for making sure that computer hardware & network infrastructure related to an organization’s data network are effectively maintained.
• Support the setup, configuring, documenting & maintaining virtual machine environments
• Build and maintain scripts & tools to automate the configuration and usability of the lab.
• Provide support in troubleshooting lab, network outages & issues
• Address lab users Helpdesk tickets in a timely matter as per Service Level Agreements.
• Co-work w/ both client & HCL - US & Taiwan teams.

B. Rack Server & Bench Operation (70%)

• End to end physical implementation of various hardware incl. racks, network equipment, racking system, power distribution units, floor load management.
• Troubleshooting, maintenance & management of server racks, SKUs, network, infrastructure & customized testing environments.
• Build physical & virtual systems using standard build processes.
• Assist in requirements gathering, development & testing of new systems or system upgrades.
• Configure systems to adhere to enterprise, departmental & team standards.
• Ensure high availability of systems by developing and using tools to identify problems & opportunities for improvement.
• Keep systems up to date with appropriate patches, firmware & other fixes.
• Schedule necessary maintenance for systems, plan for downtime & notify affected users if applicable.
• Maintain appropriate security access & protection, in compliance with existing security policies & best practices.
• Schedule & plan system upgrades as needed. Communicate outages to affected users as required.
• Manage backup & disaster recovery systems.
• Implement & manage automated client operating system deployments.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

• Min. BS in Computer, Electrical, Mechanical or other engineering field.
• 1-3 years related experience
• Network Monitoring & Analysis, network test equipment.
• Installation and maintenance of network cabling & switches.
• Knowledge of firewalls, complex networks, routing.
• Knowledge of and experience with a Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN) and Virtual Private Network (VPN)
• A working knowledge of Linux or virtual machine technology (VMware & Hyper-V, XEN or KVM) as well as operations tools such as SCCM
• Understanding of IP networking basics: L2, L3, L4, L7
• Hands on experience of Linux for server operation
• Knowledge of Microsoft Hyper-V, such as configuring & deploying VMs into Virtual Networks.
• Ability to be well organized & detail-oriented.
• Work experience with IDC is a plus (e.g. CHT, FET, Google Datacenter, etc.)
• Good read & written English skills. Can take user call in English.
• Experience with any of the following is a plus: Knowledge of networking products such as routers, switches (Opengear, Arista, Palo Alto Networks), firewalls and NFS storage (NetApp, Tegile)
• Experience on HW lab management is a plus
• Must demonstrate initiative & ownership of assigned responsibilities
• Ability to predict challenges & seek to proactively head-off obstacles
• Can work under pressure
• Working permit and Mandarin ability are required w/ foreigner

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1st level or immediate-level CCNP certificate w/ knowledge (can do) server/rack stuff, or CCNA w/ strong sever/rack experience.
• CompTIA A+, Network+ Certification
• Knowledge of PowerShell, scripting
• Interest & aptitude in Information Technology.

Nice To Have:

• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
• Cisco Certified Network Professional Routing & Switching (CCNP R&S)
• Other CompTIA Certifications: IT Fundamentals, Server+, Cloud+, or Security+
• Demonstrated track record of innovative solutions deploying and supporting IT initiatives.
• Experience in security system design and engineering.
