Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience with mission critical facility mechanical infrastructure systems.
- Experience with manufacturing and/or reliability engineering.
- Experience working with one or more of the following softwares: MATLAB, Dassault 3DS (i.e. Simulia, Dymola), AFT Fathom, and/or Bentley AutoPIPE.
- Master’s degree and/or Professional Engineering (PE) degree.
- Experience with hydraulic modeling analysis and pipe stress analysis.
- Experience developing cooling module products with an emphasis on industrial chiller plants/cooling systems.
- Experience working as a product designer in a manufacturing environment (e.g. manufacturing HVAC equipment), or working in a mechanical design-build contractor as a project designer or onsite construction engineer.
- Experience programming in Python.
- Ability to travel internationally up to 25% of the time as needed.
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will invent, design, optimize, develop, and sustain scalable modular, coordinated products that enable our data center infrastructure with the safety, reliability, deployment velocity, and cost-effectiveness that allows Google’s evolving business to succeed.
In this role, you will work alongside Architectural, Electrical, Structural, Telecommunications/IT Networking, and Security systems engineers on data center designs. You’ll work on Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Mechanical Computer Aided Drafting (MCAD) design files to perform mechanical system analysis and develop conceptual designs.
Furthermore, you will play a key role in providing engineering recommendations to the cross-functional engineering and architectural teams to improve the mechanical infrastructure product system at both the macro and micro-level to accelerate construction and onsite assembly of our data centers.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Operations, Execution, and Construction teams to develop data center mechanical infrastructure products and systems.
- Innovate and develop mechanical system products to meet company long-term strategies. Work with Internal Architect, Mechanical, Electrical, and Telecommunication Designers to refine mechanical designs based on analysis and provide recommendations to external consultants.
- Contribute to technology infusions through collaboration with Engineering teams during development. Create system-level concept and schematics designs, and carry through to detailed designs.
- Provide and prepare all types of documents including: statement of work, engineering analysis and reports, Failure Mode, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), design documents, product specifications, drawings, budget, schedule, and commissioning test plans.
- Perform engineering analysis using software tools.
