Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or equivalent practical experience
  • 10 years of process and/or product development experience with mechanicals and electro-mechanical box build
  • 10 years of experience in manufacturing, developing processes to scale new products, including mechanical fixture designs with process controls

Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience with high-volume and high-precision consumer electronics
  • Knowledge of manufacturing with adhesives, glues, jigs, fixtures, and/or tooling
  • Knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE), Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques
  • Knowledge of metals finishing and processes including surface finishing, blasting, tumbling, polishing, lapping, anodizing, plating, wet coat, pad printing, silk screening, PVD, CNC process, machining, lathing, and/or grinding
  • Knowledge of and ability to create tolerance stack ups for assemblies and part level
  • Basic understanding of JMP or Minitab

About The Job

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will partner closely with Design Engineering and Product teams to drive and guide early design strategy. You’ll collaborate effectively with manufacturing partners and equipment providers to develop robust, efficient, cost-effective, high volume assembly processes and solutions.

You’ll be heavily involved in the entire product development process, from architecture selection to assembly process creation to factory implementation and qualification. You will be driving Design for Excellence (DFX) to improve process and assure product and process quality by designing testing methods for finished product and process capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with design teams by engaging in areas such as precision electronic assembly, automation, sealing, adhesives, metal fabrication and finishing, injection molding, display design, Printed Circuit Board Assembly design and fabrication, leak testing, product definition, and architecture selection.
  • Identify, investigate, analyze, and integrate new manufacturing processes, technology, and equipment in support of program goals.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing partners by identifying functional requirements, researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment, and conferring with equipment providers.
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency via analysis and planning of work flow, space requirements, production capacity, and equipment layout.
  • Maintain and improve product and process quality by writing process control, contributing DFX for new design, and monitoring product yields where necessary
