- Bachelor’s degree Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, related engineering fields, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7 years of experience in a reliability engineering related role in the technology industry or a technical field.
- Experience in electronics product hardware reliability test.
- ASQ CRE or similar training in Reliability engineering.
- Experience in measuring/defining product life transportation and storage, and operating profile (i.e., temperature, vibration, power cycling, humidity, shock, etc.).
- Knowledge of Accelerated Life Testing (ALT), Degradation Analysis, Reliability Block Diagram, Weibull analysis, DFMEA, load-stress analysis, electronics physics of failure Design of Experiments, or Bayesian methods.

In the R&D lab, you design test equipment for prototypes of our machinery and develop the protocols used to scale these tests for the entire global team. Working closely with design engineers, you give input on designs to improve our hardware until you’re sure it meets Google’s standards of quality and reliability.

Responsibilities
- Lead the reliability activities in the hardware design and development processes, and collaborate with the teams to apply proper problem-solving methodologies for risk assessments that enables the design robustness.
- Define and drive reliability test plans to enable comprehensive reliability assessments throughout the product life cycle.
- Identify critical failure modes to influence and enable design, and de-risk the product at an early stage of development. Extract root causes from symptoms and create actionable insights from manufacturing test and Failure Analysis (FA) data.
- Dive into the fleet hardware reliability data, identify prognostic monitoring metrics, and effectively apply proper statistical methodologies. Collaborate with the team to advance the early warning mechanism and support the predictions for spare parts planning.
