About The Job

Commodity Managers work with Engineering teams to make sure Google has the supplies and equipment to put into production the innovative products coming from our Engineering teams. As a Commodity Manager, you use your wide industry knowledge and strategic supplier relationships to optimize our total cost of ownership for our global -- and growing -- infrastructure. The scale at which Google operates means that savings on just one piece of hardware can have a huge impact on Google’s bottom line.

Our Mechanical Global Supply Chain Management team is responsible for supplier selection, manufacturing development execution, cost discussions, production of differentiated and unique mechanical enclosure parts, and ensuring vendor supply. In this role, you will work on the supply chain for mechanical parts for fast-paced consumer devices and lead the sourcing strategy, supply selection, capital investment, and commercial discussions of suppliers. You will work cross-functionally to develop innovative, responsive, and sustainable supply chain solutions that enable high quality and helpful products developed in partnership with our Engineering teams. As a Global Supply Chain Manager, you will use your industry knowledge and strategic supplier relationships to develop Should Cost Models and manage supply chain risk through all phases of product development in support of the consumer hardware business.

Responsibilities

• Drive all aspects of the commercial and agreement engagement with our global mechanical supply base.
• Manage suppliers to ensure production readiness, assurance of supply, and overall quality in support of New Product Introduction (NPI) builds and sustaining operations.
• Drive close partnerships with internal partners including Engineering, Marketing, and Operations to deliver innovative, cost effective, and high quality solutions that support our overall product launch and sustainability goals.
