What you’ll do

As a member of the Quality Team, you be directly involved in the design and implementation of a Supplier Quality monitoring system and rating process. In addition, you will create solutions to meet challenging manufacturing needs and assist suppliers in meeting Ampere’s needs. You will work with the Engineering team to bring up alternate sources and provide inputs to rating suppliers to best in class operational standards and quality performance.

To help our customers to have the best experience with our products, we are seeking an experienced Field Customer Quality Engineer, to take to our high-performance microprocessor products from NPI to high volume production. This Engineer will be a part of the Ampere Quality team tasked with supporting customers in enabling and accelerating their designs.

What you’ll bring

  • Provide support services to Ampere Computing’s customers for designs utilizing Ampere Computing’s 64-bit Arm V8 Processors. This involves working closely with customers on their product designs to facilitate delivery of fully operational Customer Designs with the minimum development time.
  • Work closely with customers during their initial design phase to address board design related questions and issues. Also participate in their system bring-up to debug system level issues.
  • Work proactively with the Ampere engineering teams on documenting board design and layout guidelines.
  • Experience in methods and techniques to design, implement and verifying quality performance, future plans and objectives.
  • Participate in conference calls working closely with technical program managers, engineers, operations, and production teams to ensure timely deliverables and issue resolution.
  • Contribute to the development of product collateral
  • Travel to customer sites to support platform bring-up and production line contingencies when required.
  • Support the overall Quality Management System (QMS) System covering CPU products for NPI to EOL. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following activities:
  • Manage the issuing, tracking, and closure of CAR/PAR’s, PCN, DMR, CCB, within the supply base and drive CM’s as required to address the raised quality issues. Define the 8D process utilized for RCCA.
  • Manage the RMA process for all customers and interact with other Engineering teams to get relevant updates
  • Work independently to generate quality plans, performance of successful audits and improvement plans.
  • Support the Key Quality Metrics & Dashboards and report on a regular basis.

Qualifications

  • Familiar with Server and Workstation hardware and software
  • CPU architecture knowledge (including multi processors, coprocessors, cache design, coherency, and coherent interconnects)
  • Knowledge of DDR4/5, PCIe, SATA, USB, and Ethernet protocols
  • Skilled at Signal Integrity and Power Integrity analysis
  • Experience with Cadence Allegro design tools, schematic capture, PCB layout tools.
  • Experience with Board Bring-up
  • Working experience on Linux/Windows Operating System
  • Hands on experience in usage of industry standard tools, like MS Office and other tools such as JIRA & NetSuite
  • Knowledge of environmental standards such as RoHS and REACH is a plus
  • Can do attitude for challenging tasks. Willing to work flexible hours to fit customer schedules.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skill

Education

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
