Preferred qualifications:
  • Master’s degree or PhD in computer science or electrical engineering.
  • 3 years of experience managing a software development team.
  • Experience with C, C++, script, or Android programming.
  • Experience with input sensing technologies (e.g., touch, stylus).
  • Experience with touch relative algorithms (e.g. machine learning, palm, grip, water mode, gesture).
  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills.

With your extensive technical expertise you take initiative to independently design and implement new systems, designing, implementing, and testing multiple features with little or no direction from tech lead or manager. You collaborate with key stakeholders to determine future direction of work.

As the Engineering Manager in Embedded Software team, you’ll have the opportunity to impact Pixel’s embedded operating system products and how they are manufactured and supported. You will lead a team to work with system on a chip architects, chip vendors, and hardware teams to co-design future mobile systems at Google.

The Google Pixel team focuses on designing and delivering the world’s most helpful mobile experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of embedded software engineers and plan budget, task, resources, and tools to deliver against a roadmap.
  • Work with stakeholders to provide status, iterative releases, and make design decisions throughout development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring touch experiences for the next generation of Pixel devices.
  • Create tools and utilities to expand automated test coverage and in-field monitoring, and monitor debug issues reported by test teams and internal users.
  • Design and develop touch features, low level drivers, and machine learning algorithms.
